The contest is run by the American Association of State Troopers (AAST), and the winning cruiser is set to appear on the cover of AAST’s 2027 calendar.
Who won the 2026 Best Looking Cruiser contest?
The Florida Highway Patrol won the 13th annual contest. AAST said Michigan led for much of the voting, before Florida surged during the final weekend. The winning cruiser is slated for the cover of the 2027 America’s Best Looking Trooper Cruisers calendar.
The result comes from public votes on submitted cruiser photos. “Best looking” describes the winner of this photo contest; it is not a technical ranking of vehicle performance or the result of an official design standard.
Can you still vote?
No. AAST’s 2026 voting window ran from June 29 at 10 a.m. Eastern through July 13 at noon Eastern, 2026, and has ended. The contest used a SurveyMonkey page where voters viewed agency cruiser photos and selected a favorite. AAST required a CAPTCHA, limited voting to one vote per device for the contest, and said it would monitor timestamps and IP addresses to help guard against duplicate votes. Those rules applied to the completed 2026 event; they are not instructions or dates for a future contest.

How were the cruisers compared?
Voters chose among photographs submitted by state agencies. AAST’s published description establishes a public photo vote, not a standardized scoring rubric or a measured comparison of the cars themselves. When looking through entries, useful visual points to notice include:
- Livery: the color scheme, lettering and how the agency markings read on the vehicle.
- Composition: the angle, framing and prominence of the cruiser in the photograph.
- Setting: how the location and background complement the vehicle.
- Presentation: the overall effect of the lighting, cleanliness and visual balance.
These are ways to describe the images, not official AAST judging categories.

The contest’s voting page was the place to browse the submitted photos during the voting period. AAST’s 2027 wall calendar features the top 13 cruisers voted into the calendar, with the contest winner receiving the cover placement. AAST says proceeds from calendar sales benefit the AAST Foundation scholarship program for dependents of member troopers. The organization’s calendar page is the verified place to check availability and order.
