What Volvo’s announcement means
Volvo Cars USA has decided to stop selling both the EX30 and EX30 Cross Country in the United States after model year 2026. Reuters reported the timing on March 16, 2026; MotorTrend reproduced the company’s statement. The cutoff is tied to the model year, not a claim that every new EX30 is already unavailable. Volvo’s U.S. product page still displayed EX30 listings on October 8, 2026, though local dealer inventory was not verified.
Volvo says the EX30 will remain available in other markets globally, including Canada and Mexico. This is a U.S.-market sales change, not a global discontinuation.
Why is Volvo ending U.S. sales?
Volvo has not publicly specified why it is ending U.S. sales of the EX30. MotorTrend reported that the company did not provide a reason. Reuters discussed tariffs and broader market headwinds in the context of Volvo’s business, but did not attribute the EX30 decision to either factor. Those conditions should not be treated as the confirmed cause.

Why the EX30 mattered to affordable EV shoppers
The EX30 was positioned as Volvo’s smaller, lower-priced fully electric SUV. Its model-year pricing announcements show why it drew attention from buyers seeking a comparatively accessible entry into the brand, but the figures are for different versions and are not a like-for-like price or range comparison.

Charging details for remaining shoppers
Volvo’s 2026 announcement gave a typical 10-to-80-percent DC charging time of 28 minutes for the Single Motor when using a 153 kW station. Volvo cautions that charging estimates vary with ambient and battery temperature, charging equipment, and vehicle and battery condition.
Volvo’s current EX30 page describes NACS fast charging access through an adapter and says the adapter is included. Its 2025 EX30 page described the adapter as available for purchase through a Volvo retailer. Equipment can differ by model year and individual vehicle, so check the specific car’s included equipment before purchasing an adapter. Volvo also names a ChargePoint home wallbox as a home-charging option; the page does not establish whether it suits a particular home electrical system or what installation will cost.

What buyers should do now
- Confirm the model year and local stock. Volvo’s announced U.S. cutoff is after MY2026, but its online listing does not guarantee a vehicle is available at a nearby retailer.
- Compare the exact configuration. Check the model year, motor and trim when comparing MSRP and EPA-estimated range; the figures above describe different versions.
- Check charging compatibility and equipment. Verify the vehicle’s adapter and charging setup before buying accessories or arranging home installation.
- Assess ownership support. Consider local service and warranty access, cargo and size needs, and the transaction price available in your area. No named alternative can be established as a direct replacement on price, range, or availability from these facts alone.
