Eligible Volvo and Polestar electric vehicles can charge at participating Tesla Superchargers in North America, but owners need to check their exact model year and station, use the correct automaker-approved NACS adapter when required, and follow the charging app instructions for their brand. Volvo’s US guide uses the Volvo Cars app; Polestar’s US guide uses the Tesla app. Volvo has also announced a separate European app-based expansion planned for Q4 2026.
Which Volvo and Polestar EVs are compatible?
Compatibility depends on the vehicle, model year, region and station. For a trip, check the automaker’s live app or locator for the exact car and charging site rather than assuming every Tesla-branded charger is available.

Polestar models in the United States
Polestar’s US guidance names the Polestar 2, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 as compatible with NACS Supercharger access. It does not include Polestar 1 in its compatible list. Where North American access works
For Volvo, the US guide specifies Tesla Supercharger Generation 3 (V3) and later stations. Use the Volvo Cars app or built-in Google Maps to find supported stations and check whether the site is marked as requiring an adapter. Polestar directs drivers to its compatible charging locator or Google built-in; confirm the specific station before setting out.

Access is station-specific, so compatibility with a car does not mean every Supercharger location is usable. Network totals in company announcements are dated figures, not live availability counts: Volvo announced planned access to 12,000 fast-charge points across the United States, Canada and Mexico in 2023, then said in October 2024 that US and Canadian Volvo drivers had access to more than 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations. Many CCS-inlet vehicles need an automaker-approved NACS adapter to connect to a Supercharger. Volvo says model-year 2025 and later EC40, EX40 and EX90 vehicles include one; current owners can ask an authorized Volvo retailer about the correct adapter. Volvo’s October 2024 release listed launch MSRPs of US$230 and CA$310, but those are historical prices, not confirmation of current pricing or stock.

Polestar directs owners to obtain the adapter through a Polestar Service Point. Follow the current make- and vehicle-specific instructions: do not assume an adapter for another brand is approved. Volvo’s guide warns that its adapter is for compatible DC fast-charging stations only—not Level 1 or Level 2 AC charging, home or public AC chargers with NACS connectors, or Tesla Destination Chargers. Volvo also says to use only Volvo Cars-approved adapters and follow the adapter guide, since improper use could cause severe damage. Polestar’s US page describes its use as Level 3 DC charging and directs owners to its Service Points; it does not provide blanket approval for third-party adapters.
How to charge a Volvo at a US Supercharger
- Put the car in Park. In the Volvo Cars app, select a Tesla Supercharger, choose the connector number, select payment and start the session.
- Attach the adapter to the Supercharger cable. Remove the vehicle’s DC port covers, then plug in until the connection clicks.
- When finished, stop the session in the Volvo Cars app or use the vehicle’s port release before unplugging. Detach the adapter as directed in Volvo’s instructions.

How to charge a Polestar at a US Supercharger
- Obtain the appropriate adapter through a Polestar Service Point. In the Tesla app, choose “Charge Your EV,” confirm the Supercharger location and follow the prompts to add vehicle and payment details.
- Attach the NACS adapter to the Supercharger plug, align it with the car’s charging port and push until it clicks.
- Stop the session in the Tesla app when charging is complete.
Polestar’s US guide explains the brand’s Tesla Supercharger charging steps. The payment and session flow is not the same as Volvo’s: use the app specified by your automaker rather than assuming one brand’s instructions apply to the other.

Volvo announced on May 26, 2026 that, from Q4 2026, drivers are expected to use the Volvo app or charging key card at more than 20,000 Tesla Supercharger stations in 29 European countries. The announcement names the EX30, EX40, EC40, EX60, EX90 and ES90. This is a planned European service, distinct from the North American adapter and app procedures; the announcement does not establish adapter requirements for each European vehicle or station. The same announcement says selected models in Japan and South Korea are planned to transition to NACS by 2029, with exact models and timing to be announced later. It does not establish a Polestar European Supercharger rollout schedule.
