The launch is underway, but projected delivery totals and planned factory capacity should not be mistaken for completed production.
What has happened at the Riverside facility?
The City of Riverside reported in June 2026 that production had started at Voltu Forge One–Riverside and that the city, the project’s first customer, had received the initial production vehicles. The University of California, Riverside also reported the facility opening and described the Voltu3 as built on a Ford F-350 chassis with Voltu’s proprietary battery and electrical systems. That marks a shift from the city’s March 2026 announcement, which said the first 20 trucks were expected to roll from the line imminently. The same March release projected 600 deliveries during 2026; that was a forecast, not a reported completed total. City of Riverside, March 2026.
What is the Voltu3 Class 3 electric work truck?
The Voltu3 is a medium-duty commercial truck intended for municipal and other work applications, rather than a consumer pickup offering. South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) project material describes a funded effort to develop, demonstrate and deploy 10 Class 3 battery-electric trucks for Riverside. The same project document lists these specifications. They are reported project figures, not independent test results:
- Power: 600 hp and 827 lb-ft of torque.
- Range: over 300 miles, identified in the project material as an EPA estimate.
- Towing: over 16,000 lb.
- Drivetrain: dual-motor, four-wheel drive.
The published figures do not establish the range or towing performance a fleet will achieve in a specific configuration or duty cycle. Payload, warranty, service coverage and operating-cost data are not stated in the cited project and facility reports.

What charging and energy features are reported?
South Coast AQMD’s February 2026 material says the truck supports NACS and CCS1 connectors and DC fast charging, as well as Voltu’s AC-to-DC charging approach. The company separately claims V2X energy sharing up to 200 kW and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) energy transfer. How many trucks are planned?
The announcements describe different milestones and plans; they do not establish a final production or delivery tally.

The cited sources do not provide comparable fleet-level figures for operating costs, real-world duty-cycle range, charging time or site requirements, payload in the intended configuration, warranty, or service support. A fleet evaluating the Voltu3 should request those details for its own routes and equipment needs, rather than treating project specifications or planned output as a substitute for operational evidence.
