The Volonaut Airbike is a real, single-seat jet-turbine aircraft, but its advertised 124 mph top speed is not independently verified—and it conflicts with the 63 mph figure in the company’s own specification table. Volonaut lists a maximum flight time of 10 minutes. Those figures make the Airbike an experimental-feeling personal aircraft, not an established everyday transportation option.
Is the Volonaut Airbike real?
Volonaut describes the Airbike as a carbon-fiber, single-seat aircraft with redundant jet propulsion and flight-computer stabilization. The company calls it a “fully functional real-world speeder bike,” but that is its own characterization, not independent proof of certification, safety performance, or customer delivery. Its product description is at Volonaut’s Airbike page; a 2025 Industrial Equipment News report covered the launch and repeated the company’s broad claims, while noting availability was unclear at publication.
Can it really fly at 124 mph?
Volonaut’s product page gives two different top-speed figures. Promotional copy says “up to 124 mph,” while the technical specifications list 102 km/h (63 mph) and associate that value with FAA ultralight compliance. The company does not explain the discrepancy, and neither figure is presented as an independent test result. Treat 124 mph as a company marketing claim, not a confirmed operating speed.
The page also describes a hands-free flight-computer stabilization system. That description does not establish that the aircraft is safe in all conditions or that a regulator has approved it. No independent speed test or safety validation is established by the cited company material.

What are the listed specifications?
The following are Volonaut-published specifications, not independently measured performance figures. The company does not provide enough detail to establish real-world range or the conditions behind the performance claims.
| Item | Volonaut’s listed figure |
|---|---|
| Seats | One |
| Empty mass | 30 kg (66 lb) |
| Maximum pilot mass | 95 kg (209 lb) |
| Top speed | 102 km/h (63 mph) in the technical table; promotional text separately claims up to 124 mph |
| Maximum flight time | 10 minutes |
| Listed fuels | Diesel, biodiesel, Jet-A1, and kerosene |
| Refueling time | Under one minute |
All figures in the table come from Volonaut’s product specifications. “Maximum” flight time is not a range guarantee: the company page does not establish distance, reserve policy, payload effects, or operating conditions.

How much does the Volonaut Airbike cost?
Volonaut’s preorder page lists a full price of $880,000, divided into a $2,000 reservation fee, an $80,000 deposit, and a $798,000 final payment. The company says the reservation is not a binding purchase agreement until the deposit stage, and that delivery will include training at its U.S. facility. These are the company’s current stated preorder terms, not confirmation that production aircraft have been delivered. See Volonaut’s preorder page for the terms.
Is it practical for everyday travel?
The available specifications do not establish the Airbike as a practical commuter vehicle. A listed maximum flight time of 10 minutes leaves important trip-planning questions unanswered, including usable range, reserves, weather limits, and where it may legally operate. The product’s one-seat design and 95 kg maximum pilot mass also define clear limits on who and what it can carry.

Before treating it as personal transport, a prospective buyer would need evidence about applicable operating rules in their jurisdiction, required training, insurance, maintenance, production configuration, and confirmed delivery status. Volonaut’s preorder statement about training at a U.S. facility does not by itself establish regulatory approval or the aircraft’s legal status elsewhere.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is known—and what remains unproven?
Volonaut publishes a vehicle description, specifications, and a preorder offer. Those establish what the company says it is developing and selling, but not independently verified speed, safety, certification, mass production, or completed customer deliveries. The mismatch between the advertised 124 mph and technical-table 63 mph remains unexplained on the company page, so readers should keep the two figures distinct rather than treating the higher one as settled performance.
