The details below are the reported 2024 specifications, and they should be checked against current Volkswagen information for your market.
How the rear bench converts the van
The conversion depends on one component: a specially designed three-seat rear bench. In passenger mode it sits in its normal position. For cargo, it folds forward and then upright, so the back of the bench becomes a partition behind the front seats and the floor behind it is free for luggage or goods. Nothing is lifted out or stored elsewhere, which is the practical difference from many people-carrier layouts where rear seats are removed and kept in a garage.
With the bench upright, the reported design also allows loading through the sliding side doors, so the cargo area is not reached only through the tailgate. Readers planning regular loading from the side should note that this is a feature of the cargo setup described in the report, not a separate option.

The Maxi therefore adds 600 litres of reported load volume and two pallet positions for €2,505 more in the 2024 preorder figures. Whether that trade-off suits you depends on how often you need a full pallet load rather than a larger passenger layout.
Engines and the plug-in hybrid
The base models described in the report use a 101-hp 2.0-litre TDI diesel with a six-speed manual gearbox. The report also names a TSI petrol option and a plug-in eHybrid, but it does not give output figures for those engines in the material available.

For the eHybrid, the report gives a claimed electric range of 75 miles (122 km). The test cycle behind that figure is not stated, so it should be read as a manufacturer-style claim rather than a measured range under your own driving conditions.
Price and availability in 2024
The prices above were reported as preorder prices including VAT in 2024. They are not current list prices, and the report expected the first vehicles before the end of 2024. Anyone reading this later should treat the figures as a historical reference and request a current quote, including the engine, body length and any local taxes or incentives that apply.

Checks before you rely on these figures
- Confirm the body version. The standard and Maxi figures differ in volume, pallet fit and price, so use the one you are actually quoted.
- Ask the dealer for the specified payload and towing limits for your exact configuration. The reported figures do not cover them.
- Check which engines your market offers. The TDI, TSI and eHybrid described in 2024 may not all be sold where you live.
- Test the seat fold in a showroom van if possible. The report describes a tool-free process, but the ease of handling the bench in practice is worth confirming.
- Do not compare the Caddy Flexible with the larger Volkswagen Transporter. Their seats, cargo volumes and dimensions are different, and the figures above apply only to the Caddy Flexible.
Who the Caddy Flexible suits
The Caddy Flexible is most relevant to buyers who need an occasional people carrier and a working van from the same vehicle. A household that mainly carries passengers with occasional bulky items, or a small business that alternates between transporting staff and loads, is the natural audience for the layout described in the report. Buyers who need a van with a fixed, permanently separated cargo bay may find other vans more suitable.
