A police-released video shows a blue Kia Carnival moving into a motorcycle’s path on westbound U.S. 26 in Beaverton, Oregon, at about 6:16 a.m. on May 5, 2025. The minivan sideswiped the motorcycle, sent 21-year-old rider Correy Medeiros toward the side of the freeway, and continued away without stopping.

Police later identified and arrested the driver, Samir Helio Pazzoto-Filho. The case then escalated from assault and hit-and-run allegations to an attempted-murder indictment. After being released on $250,000 bail with house arrest and GPS monitoring, he allegedly removed or abandoned his ankle monitor. The latest reliable report located, published June 12, 2025, said he was at large under a $1 million warrant. No later reliable public report confirming his arrest, conviction, plea, dismissal, or final court disposition was located in the research for this article.

What the video shows

The official Beaverton Police Department video captures what investigators described as the apparent end of a longer confrontation between a motorcycle and a blue late-model Kia Carnival minivan.

  1. The Kia and motorcycle travel alongside one another on westbound U.S. 26.
  2. The rider gestures or appears to address the minivan driver.
  3. The Kia makes a sharp move to the right.
  4. The minivan strikes the motorcycle and pushes the rider toward the right side of the freeway.
  5. The motorcycle and rider disappear from the main camera frame.
  6. The Kia continues down the highway as other drivers slow or stop.

The clip establishes that the Kia left after the collision. It does not show the entire interaction that came before the camera’s view. Beaverton police said the footage appeared to capture the end of a road-rage-style encounter and that the driver’s maneuver appeared intentional. Those are police characterizations and allegations, not a finding of guilt.

When and where did the crash happen?

Detail Reported information
Date Monday, May 5, 2025
Time Approximately 6:16 a.m.
Location Westbound U.S. 26 between Highway 217 and Cedar Hills Boulevard in Beaverton, Oregon
Minivan Blue late-model Kia Carnival
Motorcycle rider Correy Medeiros, 21, identified by his family

Because the crash occurred during the morning commute, the video shows other motorists reacting as the rider is forced toward the shoulder or right side of the freeway. The available reports do not establish a precise speed for the Kia. A family fundraiser said the minivan was traveling at about 60 mph, but that figure should be treated as a family-supplied claim rather than an independently verified police measurement.

Was this definitely road rage?

Police used qualified language. Their description said the incident may have been or appears to have been the result of a road-rage-style interaction. Investigators also said they believed the Kia driver acted intentionally.

The family’s account provides additional context but is not the same as independently proven evidence. According to the KGW report syndicated by KTVZ, the family said the Kia had cut Medeiros off and then braked abruptly. They said Medeiros moved alongside the minivan to get the driver’s attention, after which the driver made eye contact and jerked the wheel.

The released video begins too late to confirm who initiated the earlier dispute or exactly what was said or done before the recording. The most accurate description is therefore an apparent road-rage-style crash, based on police’s account and the visible maneuver, rather than a definitive reconstruction of the full confrontation.

Did the driver flee the crash?

Yes. The Kia continued away immediately after striking the motorcycle, and police said the driver did not stop to check on or assist the rider. That conduct formed the basis for the hit-and-run allegation. Oregon’s driver-duty provisions are set out in Chapter 811 of the Oregon Revised Statutes.

There are two separate uses of the word “fled” in this case:

  • Fleeing the crash scene: This is visible in the video and was part of the initial police account.
  • Fleeing after release: In June 2025, reports said Pazzoto-Filho allegedly tampered with or abandoned his GPS monitor and became wanted again.

Consequently, early headlines saying the driver fled were accurate about the collision, but they are incomplete as a summary of what happened afterward. Police eventually identified and arrested him before he was later reported at large again.

How police identified the Kia driver

Beaverton police initially described the wanted driver as a white man approximately 30 to 40 years old with a black beard. A member of the public recognized the vehicle and gave investigators information about where it could be found, according to KPTV’s arrest report.

Officers located Pazzoto-Filho near Highway 26 and Southwest 185th Avenue. Police said they saw him driving a blue Kia Carnival with damage consistent with the crash. That damaged minivan, combined with the community tip and the video evidence, led to the arrest reported shortly after the May 5 collision.

Police also received information suggesting that Pazzoto-Filho may have driven recklessly in the days before the crash. The available reporting does not establish that those reports resulted in separate charges or proven violations, so they should not be treated as confirmed prior offenses.

Local reports generally describe the arrest as occurring Monday evening after the crash. Some reposted or syndicated material labels the arrest as May 6, so the exact reporting date is less certain than the underlying fact that police arrested him shortly after the incident.

How badly was the motorcyclist injured?

Police described Medeiros’ injuries as serious. He was taken to a hospital and later released. His family told local media that he suffered a concussion and extensive road rash but avoided broken bones.

The KGW report said Medeiros was launched more than 200 feet. That is the better-supported description; more precise figures should not be inferred from the video. A family fundraiser also said the motorcycle’s gear shifter was driven through his steel-toed boot. That detail came from the family’s fundraising account and has not been presented here as an independently documented medical finding.

Despite the severity of the crash, the injury outcome was not fatal. By June 12, KPTV reported that Medeiros was nearly fully recovered and expected to return to work. The family also sought help with recovery-related costs and motorcycle repairs.

What charges did Pazzoto-Filho initially face?

The charges changed as the case moved from the initial arrest to grand-jury proceedings. Early reports listed allegations including:

  • First-degree attempted assault
  • Second-degree assault
  • Felony hit-and-run, also described as failure to perform the duties of a driver to injured persons
  • Reckless driving
  • Unlawful use of a weapon, with the vehicle treated as the alleged weapon

The initial charge list is reported by KPTV and KQEN. These were allegations at the arrest stage. An arrest or charge is not proof that a crime occurred or that the accused committed it.

Why was attempted murder added?

A Washington County grand jury later indicted Pazzoto-Filho on an attempted-murder charge along with additional assault, weapons, hit-and-run, and reckless-driving charges. Reports described the attempted-murder count as second-degree attempted murder and also listed:

  • First-degree assault
  • Second-degree assault
  • Unlawful use of a weapon
  • Felony hit-and-run or failure to perform the duties of a driver to injured persons
  • Reckless driving

The indictment represented a procedural escalation from the initial arrest charges. It did not establish that Pazzoto-Filho was guilty. According to the May 13 KPTV court report and Your Oregon News, he pleaded not guilty.

For that reason, it is legally inaccurate to call him an attempted murderer. The defensible wording is that prosecutors obtained an attempted-murder indictment against the accused driver.

What happened after he was released on bail?

A judge set bail at $250,000 and imposed significant release conditions:

  • House arrest
  • GPS ankle monitoring
  • A prohibition on driving

The court-monitoring arrangement later failed, according to reports. The sequence described by KPTV was:

  1. June 7, 2025: The GPS system alerted officials to possible tampering.
  2. June 9: A family member reportedly told authorities that Pazzoto-Filho was gone and that the monitor had been left on a couch.
  3. June 10: KPTV reported that a warrant had been issued after he failed to appear as required.
  4. June 12: KPTV reported that the warrant was set at $1 million and described Pazzoto-Filho as at large. Investigators believed he might still be in the area while also checking possible connections to Florida.

The reporting supports saying that he allegedly removed or abandoned the monitor and was reported at large in June 2025. It does not support declaring that he definitely remained a fugitive through 2026. No later reliable public report confirming a recapture, conviction, plea, dismissal, or final disposition was located for this article.

What remains unknown?

Several important questions remain unresolved in the public reporting:

  • What exactly happened before the camera began recording?
  • Who initiated the earlier traffic dispute, and what words or gestures preceded the collision?
  • Was the family’s reported 60-mph speed estimate confirmed by investigators?
  • Was Pazzoto-Filho later arrested after the June 2025 warrant?
  • What was the final outcome of the attempted-murder and related charges?

Readers seeking a later procedural update should distinguish news reports from an official court record. The Oregon Judicial Department’s Washington County case-file page is the appropriate starting point for checking available court documents. A current warrant status may also require confirmation from Washington County law enforcement or the court.

The bottom line on the viral crash video

The video shows a Kia Carnival striking a motorcycle on Highway 26 and leaving the scene. Police believed the maneuver was intentional and characterized the visible incident as the apparent end of a road-rage-style interaction, but the recording does not show the full dispute. Medeiros survived serious injuries and was reportedly close to returning to work by June.

The accused driver was not simply a person who disappeared after the crash. Police found him through a public tip, arrested him, and prosecutors later obtained an attempted-murder indictment. But after a $250,000 bail release with GPS-monitored house arrest, he was reported to have left his monitor behind and became wanted again. The latest reliable update located places that development in June 2025; the final status of the case should not be stated without a current court or warrant check.

Frequently Asked Questions

Was the Beaverton minivan driver arrested?

Yes. Police identified the driver as Samir Helio Pazzoto-Filho after a community tip led them to a damaged blue Kia Carnival near Highway 26 and Southwest 185th Avenue. He was arrested shortly after the May 5, 2025, crash, although reports vary between May 5 and May 6 when labeling the arrest date.

Is the driver still wanted?

The latest reliable report located for this article, published June 12, 2025, said Pazzoto-Filho was at large under a $1 million warrant after allegedly removing or abandoning his GPS ankle monitor. That report does not establish his status after June 2025. A current Washington County court or law-enforcement record is needed before saying he remains wanted.

What happened to the motorcyclist?

Correy Medeiros, 21, was hospitalized with serious injuries after the crash and was later discharged. His family reported a concussion and extensive road rash but no broken bones. Local reporting said he was nearly fully recovered and expected to return to work by June 12, 2025.

Does the video prove the incident was road rage?

No. The video shows the apparent final maneuver and the Kia leaving the crash scene, but it does not show everything that happened beforehand. Beaverton police said it appeared to be the end of a road-rage-style interaction and believed the maneuver was intentional. The motorcyclist’s family provided an account of an earlier cut-off and abrupt braking, but that account should remain attributed.

The Bottom Line

The viral clip documents a serious Highway 26 hit-and-run in Beaverton, Oregon, but not the entire dispute that preceded it. Police arrested Samir Helio Pazzoto-Filho, prosecutors later obtained an attempted-murder indictment, and he was released under strict conditions before being reported at large after an alleged GPS-monitor violation. The last reliable update located was from June 2025, so any later status requires verification from current Washington County records.
