CarToq identified it as a Toyota Innova HyCross and described damage to a side window, door, bumper and bodywork, but the available reporting does not establish how the damage happened or who owned the car.
What happened in Trivandrum
Scroll.in reported on March 19, 2024, that Vijay’s car was damaged after fans gathered to meet him during his return to Kerala after 14 years to shoot a new film. Its headline used the word “thousands,” but the report materials do not provide a measured attendance figure or a counting method. That wording should therefore be understood as the headline’s description, not a verified crowd count. Scroll.in’s report
CarToq published a follow-up account on March 20, identifying the vehicle as a Toyota Innova HyCross used to travel from the airport. The model identification and damage details below are CarToq’s reporting. CarToq’s account
What damage was reported
CarToq described a shattered driver-side window, damage to the driver-side door, minor damage to the front bumper and dents around the vehicle. These are the visible damage details reported in its account; the available reporting does not provide an independent inspection or repair assessment.

What is known about the cause
The video discussed by CarToq did not establish how the window broke. The account raised crowd members leaning against the glass and a two-wheeler coming too close as possibilities, but neither explanation was verified. The reports do not establish that any fan, vehicle or individual caused the damage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Was the car Vijay’s, and why was he in Kerala?
The reporting does not establish vehicle ownership. CarToq said the car was probably arranged for Vijay by someone on the production team; that is a possibility, not confirmation that the vehicle belonged to him or to the production.
