Ventje converts Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. Buzz into a compact camper with a pop-up roof, kitchen, storage and reconfigurable indoor-outdoor furniture. The current starting price is €85,000 including the van and interior; Ventje lists up to four sleeping places, but only two or four seatbelt positions depending on configuration. Its range claims are European figures from Ventje, not directly interchangeable with U.S. EPA estimates.

What the Ventje conversion adds

This is a complete camper conversion developed and built by Ventje in the Netherlands, using the Volkswagen ID. Buzz as its base. It is not a factory Volkswagen camper trim. Ventje’s current product page describes a fully electric setup with a pop-up roof, kitchen, sleeping places, storage and a multifunctional interior. Ventje’s product page says its interior components are designed to work both inside and outside the van: the kitchen is accessible from either side, while the table and seat cushions can be rearranged as outdoor furniture.

The leisure battery and solar panel power the lights, fridge, sockets and induction plate, which Ventje says allows an overnight stay without an electrical hookup. That combination, together with furniture that can be moved around, is the core of the conversion’s flexibility: it is intended to work as both a compact road-going vehicle and a campsite living space.

Reported electrical and interior details

In a 2024 hands-on review reproduced on Ventje’s site, Thomas Ricker reported more than 100 magnets holding the wooden interior surfaces in place, two induction cooktops, a 2,200 W inverter, a 2,160 Wh household battery and a 350 W solar panel. The review also listed eight USB ports, three wireless charging spots and three 230 V AC outlets. These are figures reported in that 2024 review, not a current independently confirmed specification sheet.

Ricker described the magnetic fitment this way: “The design of the Ventje camper still relies on more than 100 magnets to keep all the wooden surfaces securely in place and perfectly aligned.” The review appears on Ventje’s site, where Ricker is identified as an associate editor and co-founder of The Verge.

Price: what the current starting figure includes

Ventje currently lists a starting price of €85,000, including the ID. Buzz and the interior conversion. The final price depends on the vehicle version and selected options, so the starting figure is not a quote for every build. Ventje also says used vehicles are periodically available; stock changes, so availability needs to be checked with the company.

The same 2024 review gave a different historical figure: a starting price of €95,000 at the time it was published. It also reported an estimated nine-month delivery period for several European countries and said Ventje planned future UK and U.S. expansion. Those details describe the situation at the time of that review, not current pricing, delivery timing or market availability. Confirm the configuration, quote and delivery estimate directly with Ventje.

Seats, beds and the compact toilet solution

Ventje lists either two or four seatbelt places, depending on configuration, and up to four sleeping places. These numbers describe different things: sleeping capacity does not mean every occupant has a belted seat while travelling.

Sleeping area Approximate dimensions listed by Ventje
Lower bed 1.95 × 1.35 m
Upper pop-top bed 2 × 1.15 m

The toilet arrangement is also worth understanding before treating this as a conventional motorhome layout. Ventje offers an integrated toilet plate that can be set up when needed; the company says there is no fixed toilet spot beside the bed.

Range: keep Ventje, U.S. and UK figures separate

Ventje currently claims up to 460 km on the WLTP test cycle and about 400 km as a practical range for the Ventje ID. It says real-world results depend on factors including temperature, driving style and load. The WLTP number is a standardized test figure; the practical figure is Ventje’s estimate, not a guarantee for a particular trip.

Volkswagen’s U.S. page for the 2025 ID. Buzz gives a separate market-specific figure of 231–234 miles EPA-estimated, depending on trim and driving conditions. It also lists up to 26 minutes for a 10–80% DC fast charge and says EVSE is sold separately on the MY25 U.S. model. These U.S. vehicle figures are not specifications for the Ventje conversion in Europe. Volkswagen of America’s 2025 ID. Buzz page provides the U.S. figures.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK lists 251–300 miles of official WLTP range depending on trim, with its data stated as correct at July 2026. It warns that actual results vary with weather, speed, load, accessories, vehicle age and battery age, and lists battery and charging details by configuration. Those are UK-market figures for Volkswagen configurations, not a direct comparison with Ventje’s kilometre figures. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK’s ID. Buzz page gives the UK information.

For a meaningful comparison with another camper, match market, test cycle, vehicle configuration and conditions. A range ranking based on Ventje’s practical estimate, a U.S. EPA result and a UK WLTP figure would mix different measures.

Questions to settle before choosing a configuration

  • How many people need to travel? Check the chosen configuration’s belted seating capacity separately from its sleeping capacity.
  • Will the bed sizes work? Compare the listed lower and pop-top dimensions with the people who will use them.
  • Is the toilet setup suitable? The toilet plate is put in place when needed; there is no fixed toilet location beside the bed.
  • How will you camp? Ventje says the leisure battery and solar panel power the listed living equipment for an overnight stay without hookup. Confirm the current equipment and options for the specific vehicle you are considering.
  • What does the quoted price cover? The current starting figure includes the van and interior, while version and options affect the final price.
  • Which range number applies to your market? Use the correct market and test-cycle figure, and account for load and conditions rather than assuming a published maximum will match every journey.
