The Vanderhall Brawley is an electric, four-seat off-road UTV—not a vehicle its manufacturer designed for public-road use. Its 2025 owner’s manual says it is for off-road use only and is not designed for public roads or paved surfaces. That is the clearest answer to whether it is “street legal”; whether a specific vehicle can be registered or used on a road depends on local rules, which should be confirmed with the relevant authority.
Is the Vanderhall Brawley street legal?
Vanderhall’s 2025 owner’s manual states: “This vehicle is designed and manufactured for OFF-ROAD USE ONLY.” It adds that the Brawley is not designed to operate on public roads or paved surfaces, including streets, highways, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, or paths. The manual warns that paved use may adversely affect handling and increase the risk of losing control, an accident, or a rollover. Read the 2025 Brawley owner’s manual.
This is the manufacturer’s intended-use guidance, not a ruling on registration in every state or jurisdiction. If you need to know whether a particular Brawley can be registered or operated on a specific road, check with the local motor-vehicle authority and follow the manual’s restrictions.
What kind of vehicle is the Brawley?
Vanderhall describes the Brawley as a four-seat electric off-road vehicle with four independent electric motors, four-wheel drive, and electronic traction control. The general product listing offers 40-kWh or 60-kWh battery configurations. It also lists selectable 4×2 and 4×4 modes, plus eCrawl, eCrab, and eSteer modes; some modes are limited to GTS and GTS+ versions. See Vanderhall’s Brawley product page.

How much power and range does it have?
The GTS page lists 283–404 horsepower and 488 lb-ft of torque. These figures are specific to the GTS listing; the manufacturer cautions that specifications are estimates and subject to change.
An older Vanderhall features page states “up to 140 mi,” based on internal testing with a fully charged battery in 4×2 mode under ideal closed-course conditions. It also says actual range varies with driving habits, route, conditions, weather, maintenance, tire pressure, configuration, and load. The current general Brawley listing does not establish a current, version-specific range figure, so treat 140 miles as a conditional older estimate—not a guaranteed range for every Brawley. Review the older range and features information.

The manufacturer says about 210 vehicles are involved, reports one incident of unexpected acceleration, and reports no injuries.
