Valtteri Bottas was reported in Perth ahead of the 2025 AusCycling Road National Championships, but he was not on the official start list for the Sunday elite men’s championship road race. Separate cycling coverage says the Formula One driver rode the Nationals Gran Fondo instead.
Was Valtteri Bottas in the Sunday elite road race?
No. AusCycling’s official start list for the elite men’s road race does not include Bottas. His presence in Perth for the championship weekend should not be confused with an entry in the Sunday title race.
PerthNow reported on 11 January 2025 that Bottas had arrived in Perth, sharing a photograph at Elizabeth Quay. The publication also said he posted a video of a “pre-race day spin” through Kings Park with his wife, Olympic cyclist Tiffany Cromwell. Those details are PerthNow’s account of his social-media posts.
What did Bottas ride at the championships?
Escape Collective reported that Bottas rode the Nationals Gran Fondo and placed 21st in the men’s 35–39 category. The age category is based on a rider’s age at the end of the year, according to that report.

A Getty Images caption also identifies Bottas riding a Gran Fondo at the event, but gives a date that differs from Escape Collective’s account of the schedule. The available reporting supports his Gran Fondo participation, not a definitive resolution of that timing.
Details of the 2025 elite men’s road race
The elite men’s championship road race took place in Perth on Sunday, 12 January 2025. AusCycling lists its distance as 177.0 km.

Main Roads Western Australia said temporary road closures would be in place across Perth from Wednesday, 8 January, through Sunday, 12 January 2025, for the championships.
