The updated Mercedes-Benz Vito is not offered with front-, rear- and all-wheel drive as three choices on every van. Mercedes-Benz says combustion Vitos have rear-wheel drive as standard; diesel versions can be ordered with all-wheel drive; and the electric eVito has front-wheel drive. The available combinations depend on body style and market.
How drive types are split across the Vito range

What changed in the updated Vito
Exterior
The Vito received a revised front with a distinctive grille and bumper, redesigned rear LED lamps, new paint colours and new wheel designs. Adaptive MULTIBEAM LED headlights are available, subject to specification.
Cabin and equipment
The Vito and eVito gained a 10.25-inch central display and a 5.5-inch colour instrument display, along with MBUX, a new steering wheel and centre console. Optional equipment includes wireless phone charging and a heated steering wheel; KEYLESS Start is also part of the update. Availability depends on trim and configuration.

The electric EASY-PACK tailgate became available for Vito Tourer and Mixto as well as eVito Tourer. Mercedes-Benz’s 2025 history release also summarizes the update as including safety improvements such as Active Brake Assist with junction function and Active Lane Keeping Assist, and notes revisions to standard equipment and packages.
Diesel power levels and electric range
Diesel engines
Mercedes-Benz announced the OM654 diesel in up to five Vito power levels. The two ends of the range are restricted by registration class: 75 kW (102 PS) is for N1 models only, while 174 kW (237 PS) is for M1 models only.

Across the listed Vito range, Mercedes-Benz gave provisional combined WLTP fuel consumption of 6.8–8.7 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions of 178–227 g/km. These are manufacturer figures covering different versions, not the result for one specific van.
Mercedes-Benz also announced that an M254 mild-hybrid petrol engine would be available during 2024 for Vito Tourer and Mixto. That announcement does not establish current availability in every market; check the local configurator for the version on sale.

eVito range
In the 2023 announcement, Mercedes-Benz listed provisional WLTP ranges of 242–314 km for the eVito panel van and 332–370 km for the eVito Tourer. The listed panel van specification uses a 60 kWh battery; Tourer range varies with the 90 or 60 kWh battery. WLTP is a test-cycle figure, not a promise of real-world distance.
How to compare Vito versions for your needs
- Start with the body and registration class. Panel van, Tourer and Mixto specifications do not necessarily share the same engine availability or equipment.
- Match the drive layout to the exact version. Combustion models are rear-drive as standard, diesel models may have optional all-wheel drive, and eVito models are front-drive.
- For an eVito, consider charging access and duty cycle. The published WLTP ranges vary by body style and battery, and do not establish the range you will achieve in your own use.
- Verify local equipment and availability. Engines, prices, packages and options can differ by market and may have changed since the announcements.
Mercedes-Benz’s announcements establish the available configurations but do not provide an independent, same-condition comparison of traction, payload, efficiency or operating costs between drive layouts. Those claims require evidence for the specific versions being compared.

Why older Vitos may have a different drive layout
The front-drive history explains why model-year clarity matters. According to Mercedes-Benz’s 2025 history, the first Vito generation introduced in 1995 used front-wheel drive. The 2003 generation moved to rear-wheel drive and added an all-wheel-drive version; the 2014 third generation offered front-, rear- and all-wheel drive. That historical variety should not be confused with the updated range’s split between combustion Vito and electric eVito.
