There is no single real-world range number for every Cybertruck. Independent tests have recorded 250 to 334 miles, but they involved different variants and test procedures; owner accounts range more widely and are anecdotal. For a useful estimate, match the figure to the exact truck, speed, weather, load and route—not just the range shown at full charge.
What independent range tests found
These results are useful reference points, not a head-to-head comparison. The trucks and test methods differed, so the figures should not be averaged into a single expected range.
| Vehicle and source | Reported result | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 Dual-Motor AWD, Consumer Reports | 334 miles | Its 70-mph highway test; the report lists a 325-mile EPA range for the tested vehicle. Consumer Reports road-test report |
| Cyberbeast, Car and Driver | 250 miles | A steady 75-mph highway test. The article gives Tesla’s claimed range for this version as 301 miles. Car and Driver test |
| Long-term Cybertruck, Edmunds | 323 miles | Edmunds’ official EV Range Test. Its page also records average lifetime consumption of 57.1 kWh/100 miles at the time shown. Edmunds long-term road test |
The results show why a highway range number needs its conditions attached. A 70-mph test of a Dual-Motor AWD is not directly comparable with a 75-mph test of a Cyberbeast. The Edmunds result is another separate test, not a third run under the same protocol.
What Cybertruck owners say about everyday range
Owner posts describe individual experiences, not a representative sample of Cybertruck drivers. One Cyberbeast owner reported roughly 150–200 miles on a full charge during longer driving, with consumption from about 400 to more than 700 Wh/mi depending on driving style. That report is specific to one owner and should not be treated as a typical range for every Cyberbeast. Owner range discussion

A separate AWD owner described a 7.5-hour trip with four short charging stops, then a return segment completed without a stop after starting at 96%. That account illustrates a practical point: the distance driven between charging stops is not the same measure as a full-battery range test. Trip length, charging choices and starting charge all shape the experience.
Some owners report that range is adequate for daily use and occasional trips; others emphasize consumption and charging stops. Neither type of post establishes how Cybertruck owners fare as a group. No representative published statistic on the distribution of owners’ real-world range is established by the reports cited here.

Why the displayed range can differ from the distance you drive
Tesla says the range displayed in the Cybertruck is an estimate based on EPA-rated consumption and may not account for personal driving patterns or outside conditions. The Energy app separates actual consumption from projections and lets drivers review recent trips and conditions. Tesla also notes that a longer history can make projections more stable by reflecting driving behavior, environment and route. Tesla Cybertruck Owner’s Manual: range guidance

- Higher speed, wind, elevation changes, and cold or hot weather.
- Heating or cooling the cabin.
- Heavy cargo, towing, soft terrain, or driving with the tonneau open.
- Tire maintenance, third-party wheels, and accessories.
These variables can make two trips in the same truck use energy differently. When comparing a range report with your own, check the variant and configuration, speed, route, weather, wind, elevation, climate-control use, tire condition, cargo and tonneau position—not just the final mileage.

Tesla warns that towing significantly decreases range and adds load to the motors, drivetrain, brakes, tires and suspension. Tesla towing guidance

One Cybertruck Owners Club forum thread summarizes a towing test involving a roughly 6,000-pound aerodynamic trailer/load: the poster reported 121 kWh used over 113 miles, or 1,078 Wh/mi, and estimated about 115 miles using the whole battery in mild conditions. The thread cautions that its summary could be incomplete. This is one forum test discussion, not a controlled fleet result or a reliable prediction for every trailer, speed or route. Owner towing-test discussion
Trailer weight and shape, towing speed, route and weather all matter. For an actual trip, plan around the load and charging access rather than applying an unloaded range result to a tow vehicle.
How to use these numbers for your own trip
- Start with the exact variant. Compare your truck with reports for the same configuration and model year; do not assume one trim’s result applies to another.
- Use observed consumption, not only the range estimate. Review the Energy app’s trip and recent-consumption views. Recent driving and conditions are more informative than treating the displayed estimate as a promise.
- Account for the route and conditions. Higher highway speed, weather, wind, elevation, cabin climate and cargo can change consumption. Towing warrants a separate, more conservative plan.
- Plan charging stops around usable trip range. A test driven toward depletion, a full-charge estimate and the distance between planned stops answer different questions. Leave room for conditions to vary rather than planning to arrive at the battery limit.
- Check tires and towing requirements. Tesla identifies tire maintenance as a range factor and specifies checking cold tire pressure before towing. Follow the vehicle’s towing instructions for your load and setup.
How to compare a range claim fairly
Before treating two figures as a contradiction, check what each one measures:
- Was it the same Cybertruck variant, and what EPA range was stated for that specific vehicle?
- What was the test speed and protocol? A steady 75-mph run and a 70-mph test are not interchangeable.
- Was the figure measured over a complete test or extrapolated from a partial trip? What were the starting and ending battery states?
- Were weather, wind, elevation, tires, wheel covers, accessories, payload and tonneau position similar?
- Was the truck towing? If so, what were the trailer’s weight and shape, and how fast was the combination driven?
- Was the driver reporting full-charge distance or simply the distance covered before a charging stop?
These distinctions matter because the test figures are not a uniform comparison, while owner reports may omit route, weather, battery window or other details. They are best read as examples with specific conditions, not as a single range promise for all Cybertrucks.
