What is the Freak X Gumball 3000 Edition 2?
It is the 2026 continuation of Ulysse Nardin’s partnership with Gumball 3000, and a distinct limited edition of the Freak X. Ulysse Nardin and Gumball 3000 both identify the Edition 2 as a 150-piece release. The event’s 2026 route runs from Miami to Mexico City over seven days and 3,000 miles; that is release context, not evidence that the watch is a rally timing instrument. Ulysse Nardin’s product page gives the watch’s reference and specifications, while Gumball 3000’s Edition 2 page describes the collaboration and design.
The brand says this is the third year of the partnership. It follows the earlier collaboration but should not be confused with that first edition: Edition 2 has its own reference, color treatment and announced production run.
How does the Freak X tell time?
There are no conventional hands sweeping over a fixed dial. A rotating disc indicates the hours, completing one revolution every 12 hours, while the movement’s flying carousel rotates once per hour to indicate minutes. Unlike earlier Freak designs that dispense with a crown, the Freak X has a crown for winding and setting. The display and crown arrangement are described in Europa Star’s February 2026 reproduction of the Ulysse Nardin release.

The self-winding caliber is UN-230. Ulysse Nardin lists a 72-hour power reserve, 3 Hz frequency (21,600 vibrations per hour), 21 jewels and a silicon escapement. The release also specifies a silicon oversized balance wheel and spring, silicon escapement wheel and anchor, and an oversized oscillator. This is a mechanically distinctive time display, not a conventional chronograph or a device for measuring rally stages.
What is different about Edition 2?
Black titanium and orange Carbonium
The 43 mm case is titanium with a black DLC coating. The hour disc is Carbonium made from upcycled aerospace carbon fibre woven with vivid orange epoxy resin. Gumball 3000 describes the resulting three-dimensional pattern as unique to each disc. Calling it an orange-carbon dial is imprecise: the orange Carbonium component is the hour disc.

Open-worked strap and luminous accents
The watch is fitted with an open-worked black rubber strap with orange insert and stitching. Orange Super-LumiNova forms a ring around the wheel; white Super-LumiNova appears on the indexes and bridges. Together, the black-and-orange details make the collaboration visually legible without changing the underlying Freak X display architecture.

The height figures use different descriptions: the release gives 13.78 mm overall and an 11 mm perceived height; Fratello reports 13.78 mm overall and 11 mm without the crystal. The parts count is unresolved: Ulysse Nardin’s current caliber page lists 214 parts, while the February 2026 release reproduced by Europa Star lists 206 components. Both sources list 21 jewels; neither figure resolves the discrepancy.

How much does the Freak X Gumball 3000 cost?
The February 2026 launch release lists CHF 37,700 including 8.1% VAT. Fratello’s February 23, 2026 coverage reports launch prices of €41,000, US$46,400 and £35,000. These are launch figures, not confirmed current prices; availability and the price applicable to a buyer’s region should be checked with Ulysse Nardin or an authorized retailer.
Ulysse Nardin’s product page offers a deposit action, and Gumball 3000 directs interested buyers to register interest with the brand. Neither establishes live inventory. For a meaningful comparison with another Freak X or luxury watch, check the exact reference, case material and dimensions, movement and display, reserve, water resistance, warranty, edition size, and the current tax-inclusive price in your market.

The available specifications describe an automatic watch that indicates hours and minutes through a rotating disc and carousel; they do not identify a chronograph or rally-specific complication. The edition’s black-and-orange design and the rally’s route are thematic context rather than evidence of a specialist instrument.
