The programme has a fresh sign of movement: Car and Driver reported on 15 November 2025 that new owner Charge Holdings was moving ahead with plans for the car. But the available sources do not confirm a production date, customer deliveries or a final price, so the Griffith remains a proposed revival rather than a car with established showroom availability.
Is the new TVR Griffith actually going into production?
There is evidence of renewed intent, but not proof that customer cars are being built or delivered. TVR’s official Griffith V8 page continues to present the car and its technical concept. Separately, Car and Driver reported on 15 November 2025 that Charge Holdings had become TVR’s new owner and that plans for the V8 Griffith were moving ahead. That report does not establish a confirmed production timetable or deliveries.
The distinction matters because the programme has missed an earlier target. On 3 June 2015, TVR announced a new sports car developed with Gordon Murray Design and Cosworth, saying production would begin in 2017. That was a target in the announcement, not evidence that production started then. The Griffith was unveiled at Goodwood Revival on 8 September 2017, but a launch and published performance estimates are not the same as customer delivery.
What the timeline establishes
- 3 June 2015: TVR announced the development programme and a planned 2017 production start in its launch announcement.
- 8 September 2017: The Griffith was unveiled at Goodwood Revival; launch-era specifications were later reproduced by the TVR Car Club.
- 15 November 2025: Car and Driver reported that Charge Holdings was TVR’s new owner and Griffith plans were moving ahead.
What engine and specifications has TVR announced?
TVR’s current product page identifies a 5.0-litre Ford V8, a six-speed manual gearbox and a target power-to-weight ratio of 400 bhp per tonne. It also lists a custom clutch, flywheel and ECU, a dry-sump system and other enhancements. These are manufacturer-stated specifications; the page does not give a publication date or establish a final production calibration.

How is the Griffith designed and constructed?
TVR describes a carbon-fibre composite structure made using Gordon Murray Design’s iStream process, with a flat floor intended to generate ground-effect aerodynamics and side exhausts. The company claims almost 20,000 Nm per degree of structural rigidity. These are design and engineering claims from the manufacturer, not independent test findings.

Is the new Griffith related to the 1990s TVR Griffith?
It shares the name and the broad idea of a compact TVR sports car, but the announced engine is different. TVR’s heritage history says the Griffith returned in 1990 and that cars from that era used Rover V8s ranging from 4.0 to 5.0 litres. The new Griffith plan specifies a Ford V8.

When will it be available, and how much will it cost?
The sources available do not confirm a current production date, customer delivery schedule, reservation status or final price. The 2017 figure of £90,000 belongs to the launch-era Launch Edition reference, not to a current offer. Buyers should wait for a dated announcement from TVR or the reported owner before treating any timetable or price as settled.

Beyond timing and price, the available sources do not settle the final engine calibration, definitive production specification, build location, factory status or whether the original development and manufacturing arrangements remain in place. There is also no comparative road test here, so the Griffith’s performance claims cannot be used as a tested head-to-head against rival sports cars.
