What is the Tudor Fastrider Black Shield 42000CN?
Reference 42000CN is a TUDOR Fastrider Black Shield chronograph. The model’s defining features are its monobloc high-tech ceramic case, matte-black finish and contrasting white details. The black-and-white version was covered in 2015 in connection with Ducati’s XDiavel design.
The name can cause confusion because the Fastrider Black Shield appeared earlier. TUDOR’s 2013 launch material paired the collection’s introduction with a customized Ducati Diavel Carbon. That launch association is distinct from the specific 42000CN’s later XDiavel inspiration.

How is the watch connected to Ducati’s XDiavel?
The connection is an association between design and brands, not a functional relationship. The particular 42000CN was described as inspired by the XDiavel in Hodinkee’s 2015 coverage. Ducati’s design editorial describes the XDiavel’s intended character; Ducati Design Director Andrea Ferraresi called it “A real Ducati Technocruiser.” That is Ferraresi’s description of the motorcycle’s design aim, not a TUDOR quote or an objective assessment of the watch.
Keep the dates and motorcycles straight: the 2013 Black Shield launch material involved a customized Diavel Carbon, while the later black-and-white 42000CN was linked to the XDiavel. The two references should not be conflated, and neither source establishes that a watch was supplied with a motorcycle.

What the design and specifications mean for a buyer
Matte-black ceramic case
The case’s monobloc high-tech ceramic construction gives the watch its distinctive dark, angular look. The cited material does not establish that ceramic is unbreakable, so it is better understood as a defining case material than as a guarantee against damage.
Black-and-white chronograph layout
The 2015 version pairs a matte-black case and fixed tachymeter bezel with white markers and hands. That contrast is central to its visual identity. The chronograph and date make it a mechanical watch with timing and calendar functions, but the available material does not support treating it as motorcycle instrumentation.

Size and water resistance
At 42 mm across and 14.5 mm thick, it has a substantial case presence. GPHG records 150 m water resistance; that specification alone does not establish suitability for any particular activity or replace checking the watch’s condition and service history.
