Ekanoo Racing’s Toyota Supra covered the quarter-mile in a reported 6.054 seconds at 387.69 km/h (240.8 mph) during a 2014 test at Bahrain International Circuit. Contemporary coverage called it a New Import World Record in the Outlaw six-cylinder/import category—not an all-class record for every form of drag racing.
What the Supra achieved
At Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, the Supra made the pass while testing ahead of the first round of the 2014/2015 Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship. AUTO BILD reported an elapsed time of 6.054 seconds over the quarter-mile (402.33 metres) and a finish speed of 387.69 km/h. New Atlas rounded the figures to 6.05 seconds and 240.8 mph. The run was reportedly the car’s fourth outing.
Gary White drove for Ekanoo Racing. The result was reported as a record in the import, six-cylinder Outlaw category, also described as Import Outlaw. It was a test pass, not a championship-race victory. AUTO BILD’s 2014 report and New Atlas’s coverage provide the contemporary figures and context.
What “world record” means here
The record claim is tied to a specific import drag-racing class. It should not be read as a universal record across all drag cars, classes, or sanctioning bodies. The FIA document available for comparison lists FIA-homologated Category A speed records, a different record framework; it does not establish or disprove the reported import-class result. The FIA’s Category A records list concerns those homologated records, not this category-specific claim.

What is known about the car
New Atlas identifies the car as a 10.5-inch Supra powered by a Toyota 2JZ engine, with a Precision Turbo and a high-performance Liberty transmission. The reporting does not specify the turbo model, provide a complete parts list or verified build sheet, or give a substantiated horsepower figure. Those details should not be inferred from other Supra builds.
Don’t confuse it with Toyota’s later GR Supra drag build
Toyota’s 2022 account describes a separate project based on two 2020 GR Supra 3.0 cars. That build used a Pure Turbo single turbo, two CSF intercoolers, Titan Motorsports work, a catless downpipe, a 3.5-inch exhaust and an ECU tune. Toyota reported 620 horsepower and 590 lb-ft for that project; those figures do not describe Ekanoo Racing’s 2014 2JZ car. Toyota’s release on the later GR Supra drag build covers that separate project.

How to compare the run with another Supra
A meaningful drag-racing comparison needs more than a finish speed. Check the elapsed time, trap speed, class, track and event context, engine/platform, and whether the pass came in testing or competition. A quarter-mile finish speed measures performance over a defined drag strip; it is not directly comparable to a road car’s top speed, which is measured for a different purpose and under different conditions.
