TP-Link’s announced Wi-Fi 8 lineup centers on two products: the Archer 8 Ultra, a standalone router, and the Deco 8 Ultra, a mesh system. The company also lists additional Deco, travel-router, extender and adapter products on its roadmap, but those future items should not be mistaken for devices already on sale. Availability and specifications vary by region.

What TP-Link Wi-Fi 8 devices has the company announced?

TP-Link describes its Wi-Fi 8 family as based on the emerging IEEE 802.11bn standard, which it positions around Ultra High Reliability: maintaining steadier connections, improving coverage at the edge of a home, handling interference and serving many connected devices. The announced hardware includes two headline products; other products have roadmap dates rather than confirmed retail availability.

Device Role TP-Link advertised specifications Status indicated by available reports
Archer 8 Ultra BN19000 (Archer BN800) Standalone router Tri-band; up to 19 Gbps aggregate wireless speed, 10 Gbps wired connectivity and 18 internal antennas. TP-Link announced preorders from September 30, 2026. Reports described regional preorder availability; check the local listing.
Deco 8 Ultra BN22000 (Deco BN85) Mesh system Tri-band; up to 22 Gbps aggregate wireless speed and 10 Gbps wired connectivity. TP-Link advertises a three-pack for up to 9,800 square feet and more than 200 connected devices. TP-Link announced the product, but the available material does not establish broad retail availability. Confirm local status.
Deco 8 Mesh system Not stated in the cited announcement. TP-Link roadmap plan for Q1 2027; this is a planned timing, not a verified retail date.
Roam 8 Travel router Not stated in the cited announcement. TP-Link roadmap plan for Q2 2027; this is a planned timing, not a verified retail date.
Wi-Fi 8 range extenders and adapters Extenders and client adapters Not stated in the cited announcement. TP-Link roadmap plan for Q2 2027; this is a planned timing, not a verified retail date.

All speeds, coverage areas, antenna counts and device-capacity figures above are TP-Link specifications, not independent benchmark results. The company warns that model names and rated speeds can differ by region. See TP-Link’s product announcement for its specifications and roadmap.

Archer 8 Ultra vs. Deco 8 Ultra: which type of device fits?

The main distinction is the network layout each product is intended to serve. The Archer is one router; the Deco is a mesh system designed around multiple units. The advertised aggregate wireless-speed figures do not establish that one will be faster in a particular home: there is no independent side-by-side performance test in the cited material.

What to compare Archer 8 Ultra Deco 8 Ultra
System type One standalone router. Mesh system; TP-Link advertises a three-pack.
Best fit to consider A home where one well-placed router can cover the required rooms. A home with a spread-out or multi-floor layout where multiple access points may help extend coverage.
Advertised wired connectivity Up to 10 Gbps, according to TP-Link. Up to 10 Gbps, according to TP-Link.
Other advertised figures Up to 19 Gbps aggregate wireless speed; 18 internal antennas, according to TP-Link. Up to 22 Gbps aggregate wireless speed; three-pack coverage up to 9,800 square feet and more than 200 connected devices, according to TP-Link.
Regional price and availability Varies; verify the local retailer listing. Varies; verify whether the product is on sale in your region.

Choose by floor plan, existing wired infrastructure, the number and placement of access points you need, local price and availability, and your devices’ Wi-Fi compatibility—not by the headline aggregate speed alone. A router or mesh system cannot make an older client device support features it does not have.

What does Wi-Fi 8 promise to change?

TP-Link’s StabilityEngine positioning focuses on busy-home slowdowns, lag and jitter, weak uplink or dead zones, roaming interruptions and interference in difficult layouts. Its announcement names several technologies as part of that approach:

These are vendor descriptions of the standard’s direction and TP-Link’s product design, not a guarantee that every home or device will see a particular improvement. For background on TP-Link’s framing of 802.11bn and its reliability goals, see its Wi-Fi 8 overview.

How strong are TP-Link’s Wi-Fi 8 performance claims?

TP-Link reports improvements over Wi-Fi 7 from its own internal lab work. The figures use different metrics and test descriptions, so they should not be combined into one expected real-world speed gain.

TP-Link-reported result What the claim measures and its qualification
Up to 30% higher throughput at the same signal strength versus Wi-Fi 7 TP-Link’s undated overview describes this as a lab-test result; performance is not guaranteed and varies with devices and environment.
Up to 24% better interference handling versus Wi-Fi 7 A vendor lab claim in TP-Link’s undated overview, not independent verification.
Up to 15% stronger mesh performance between two access points under interference versus Wi-Fi 7 A vendor lab claim in TP-Link’s undated overview, not independent verification.
Up to 30% signal-performance improvement in multi-floor, single-device environments; 10–20% in multi-device environments TP-Link’s May 2026 release attributes these results to controlled internal lab testing and says actual results vary with clients, environment, interference and configuration.
1–3 dB improvement in receive sensitivity on 5 GHz and 6 GHz TP-Link’s May 2026 internal lab result, subject to the same variation by clients, environment, interference and configuration.

“Higher throughput,” “signal-performance improvement,” interference handling, mesh performance and receive sensitivity are distinct measures. None is an independent test of a retail Archer 8 Ultra or Deco 8 Ultra in a home. TP-Link’s executive Jim Poder described the Archer’s approach as combining “our Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine with intelligent antenna technology and AI-powered optimization”; that is the company’s characterization of its design, not third-party validation.

TechRadar reported UK preorder pricing of £669.99, with a stated later price of £899.99, and Australian preorder pricing of AU$1,499.99. These are time-sensitive reported prices for those markets, not universal or necessarily current prices. No comparable local price should be inferred for other regions. Product names and specifications can also vary by market.

Should you wait for a TP-Link Wi-Fi 8 router?

Waiting makes sense mainly if you specifically want to evaluate an early Wi-Fi 8 product and its local price and availability are acceptable. If your current network already covers your home reliably, the announcement’s lab figures alone do not establish a reason to replace it. If you have dead zones, first consider whether the problem calls for better router placement, a mesh layout or wired access points; then compare the relevant locally available products and your clients’ compatibility.

For shoppers considering a future product rather than the Archer or Deco 8 Ultra, treat TP-Link’s Q1 2027 Deco 8 and Q2 2027 Roam 8, extender and adapter dates as roadmap plans. The cited material does not establish final retail dates, regional availability or final specifications. It also does not establish an IEEE completion timeline or when consumer devices will broadly support the emerging 802.11bn standard.
