The announcement does not confirm a wider Toyota or Lexus rollout. The engine could find other uses in the future, but any specific additional model remains speculation.
Which vehicles are confirmed to use Toyota’s new V8?
Toyota’s December 5, 2025 announcements identify the GR GT and GR GT3 as the engine’s applications. Both vehicles were still under development, with Toyota aiming for launches around 2027; that is a target, not a guaranteed retail date. Toyota also cautions that details may change. Toyota Media Site’s announcement and Toyota GAZOO Racing’s technical release provide the specifications.

These are development vehicles, not cars Toyota has said are already on sale. Toyota describes the GR GT3 as a customer race car, but that does not establish current availability or final specifications.
What are the new V8’s specifications?
Toyota describes the engine as a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Its technical release lists 3,998 cc displacement, an 87.5 mm bore and an 83.1 mm stroke. The engine uses dry-sump lubrication and a hot-V layout, with one turbocharger in each engine bank. Toyota characterizes the design as “thoroughly compact and light”; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independently measured comparison.

Intended for ages 14 and above, it is suited to model builders, automotive enthusiasts, engineering fans, and hobbyists for display in a home, office, study, studio, or workshop. A metal gift box is included.
For the GR GT prototype, Toyota gives development targets of at least 650 PS (641 bhp/478 kW) system output and 850 Nm system torque. Those figures describe the hybrid system, not the V8 alone, and are targets rather than final certified production ratings. Toyota also lists a 45:55 front-to-rear weight distribution for the GR GT prototype. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
Does the Lexus LFA Concept use this V8?
No. Although Toyota unveiled the Lexus LFA Concept at the same event, Toyota identifies it as a battery-electric sports-car concept. The announcement does not say it uses the V8. Toyota’s event announcement describes the concept, and the presentation transcript distinguishes it from the GR GT’s hybrid V8.

Could Toyota put the engine in more models?
It is possible in principle, but Toyota’s cited announcements do not name any additional applications or confirm a broader Toyota or Lexus engine program. The GR GT is the first Toyota Motor Corporation production-vehicle application identified in the technical release, though the car itself remains under development. The GR GT3 is the related race-car application.
That leaves room for future possibilities, not a confirmed lineup. A specific claim that another Toyota or Lexus model will get this V8 would need separate evidence. Likewise, the engine’s use in a hybrid road car and a related race car does not by itself establish that it is available as a standalone engine or that it will be used across other vehicle platforms.

What Toyota says about the GR GT’s racing connection
In Toyota’s official presentation, Akio Toyoda, Chairman of the Board of Directors (Representative Director) of Toyota Motor Corporation, said: “The GR GT road car, with that same V8 twin-turbo but with hybrid power, shares the DNA of its racing counterpart more than any car we have ever made.” That statement describes Toyota’s intended relationship between the road car and its racing counterpart; it does not announce additional models for the engine.
