The new Toyota Urban Cruiser is a compact battery-electric SUV developed for Europe. Its launch range pairs two LFP battery sizes—49 kWh and 61 kWh—with front-wheel drive or, on the larger battery, all-wheel drive. Toyota’s later European specification lists up to 426 km of WLTP combined range for the 61 kWh FWD version; that is a laboratory-cycle estimate, not a real-world driving result.
What is the new Toyota Urban Cruiser?
Toyota presented the production Urban Cruiser on 12 December 2024, after developing it from the Urban SUV Concept, and said it would make its public debut at the Brussels Motor Show in 2025. It is an electric SUV for the European market, distinct from the hybrid Yaris Cross. Toyota describes its design theme as “Urban Tech,” calling attention to a hammerhead-style front, robust lower body and full-width rear lighting. How large is it, and what is the cabin layout?
Toyota’s premiere announcement gives the Urban Cruiser a length of 4,285 mm, width of 1,800 mm, height of 1,635 mm and wheelbase of 2,700 mm, with a 5.2 m turning radius. Toyota says it is slightly larger than the Yaris Cross. The long wheelbase supports a rear seat that slides, reclines and folds in a 40:20:40 split, so occupants can adjust the balance between passenger room and luggage space. Which batteries, drivetrains and range figures are offered?
Toyota Europe’s December 2025 specifications list three configurations. All use lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The ranges below are manufacturer WLTP combined figures; actual range varies with conditions and use.

The 61 kWh FWD configuration has the highest stated WLTP range, while the AWD model trades some of that figure for a second motor and power to all four wheels. Toyota says its electric AWD system adds a rear motor and is designed to assist on loose or slippery surfaces. The 2024 premiere release also named Trail Mode and Downhill Assist Control for AWD and Snow Mode for FWD; those are stated features, not evidence of tested off-road capability. How long does charging take, and what battery coverage applies?
Toyota Europe estimates around 45 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using DC charging. Toyota GB’s November 2025 UK launch release specifies 67 kW DC charging and gives the same approximate time. These are manufacturer estimates, not measured charging results; actual times depend on conditions and the charging supply. An earlier UK prototype release estimated about six hours for 15–100% on three-phase 11 kW AC, or about 9.5 hours on single-phase 7 kW AC. Toyota says the battery has thermal management. Its December 2025 European release describes a Battery Care Programme that maintains at least 70% of original capacity for 10 years or 1,000,000 km, subject to an annual battery health check. Toyota GB’s June 2025 release describes UK coverage up to 10 years or 650,000 miles, also subject to annual health checks and country terms. These are market-specific programme descriptions, not interchangeable global warranty terms; check the current conditions for the country where the vehicle is sold. What equipment and technology does it have?
Toyota describes an integrated digital instrument combimeter and multimedia display, front and rear USB ports, wireless smartphone integration and remote functions through the MyToyota app. The app functions Toyota identifies include setting charging schedules, checking charge state and pre-conditioning the vehicle. The premiere announcement also describes 12-colour ambient lighting. Exact availability depends on market and grade.
