Second generation: begins with the 2008 model
Toyota labels its 2008 Sequoia album as second-generation. The newsroom also has a second-generation archive album for 2010–2017. Together, those records confirm that Toyota treated examples from those years as part of the second generation, but they do not establish the generation’s definitive final model year.

Third generation: the all-new 2023 Sequoia
Toyota announced the all-new, third-generation Sequoia in 2022 for the 2023 model year. Its launch marked a major documented break from the earlier generations: Toyota said every 2023 Sequoia would use a twin-turbo V6 hybrid i-FORCE MAX powertrain.

In its January 25, 2022 announcement, Toyota rated the 2023 system at 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. Toyota described a motor generator housed between the twin-turbo engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission. Launch grades and towing capacity
Toyota’s June 8, 2022 launch announcement listed five grades for the 2023 Sequoia: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. It also stated a maximum towing capacity of up to 9,520 pounds.
