Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC), which manufactures and sells Toyota vehicles in Pakistan, has approved an additional Rs. 1 billion for localizing parts and components. The addition lifts the company’s announced localization investment to Rs. 5.1 billion. The money is intended for production equipment and related costs, not a disclosed list of specific parts or vehicle models.
What the Rs. 5.1 billion investment covers
In a material-information filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, IMC said the spending will support local manufacturing of parts and components for its existing vehicles. It identified plant and machinery, molds, dies, equipment, and related costs as the intended uses. The filing does not name the components, vehicle models, suppliers, or production volumes involved. How the two investment phases are scheduled
The Rs. 5.1 billion total combines an earlier Rs. 4.1 billion localization project with the newly approved Rs. 1 billion addition. The phases have separate expected completion dates:

Why IMC says it is investing
IMC describes localization as part of a strategy to reduce foreign-exchange outflow, develop Pakistan’s domestic automotive industry, generate employment, and contribute to the national economy. These are the company’s stated objectives, not quantified or confirmed results of this project. The filing provides no projected foreign-exchange savings, job target, or project-specific increase in local content.
