Toyota’s U.S. battery-electric lineup is expanding, with the 2026 bZ and bZ Woodland joined by the 2026 C-HR, and a refreshed 2027 bZ carrying forward the brand’s everyday electric SUV role. The clearest choice in Toyota’s published specifications is between the bZ’s range-focused crossover configurations and the Woodland’s added towing and cargo utility. Toyota’s figures are manufacturer estimates, not independent real-world comparisons.
Which Toyota EVs are in the U.S. lineup?
Toyota’s model-year announcements identify the 2026 bZ, C-HR, and bZ Woodland as additions to its battery-electric vehicle (BEV) lineup. The available specifications here are most detailed for the bZ and bZ Woodland; they do not establish C-HR trim, range, battery, or charging figures. Toyota’s August 2026 announcement counts three BEVs, 15 hybrids, and two plug-in hybrids in its U.S. lineup—a dated company count that distinguishes BEVs from its other electrified vehicles.
For its broader positioning, Toyota says it is pursuing a “multi-pathway” approach rather than relying on BEVs alone. In May 2026, Toyota Marketing executive Mike Tripp described the electric family as focused on drivers’ everyday needs. That is Toyota’s stated positioning, not independent evidence of performance. Toyota’s May 2026 campaign announcement and its August 2026 2027 bZ announcement provide that context.
2027 Toyota bZ: everyday crossover, with several range choices
Toyota says the 2027 bZ is offered in XLE and Limited grades, with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Battery capacity and drivetrain affect the published range, so compare the exact configuration rather than treating “bZ range” as one figure.

These are Toyota’s manufacturer estimates announced August 4, 2026; they are not independent road-test results. Toyota’s 2027 bZ specifications and model announcement list the configurations. The smaller-battery XLE FWD is the lower-range option; the highest listed estimate belongs to the larger-battery XLE FWD Plus.
2026 Toyota bZ: what differs from the 2027 model?
Toyota’s 2025 announcement for the 2026 bZ lists the same 74.7-kWh and 57.7-kWh battery choices, with ranges of 314 miles for XLE FWD Plus, 299 for Limited FWD, 288 for XLE AWD, 299 for Limited AWD, and 235 for XLE FWD. The 2027 announcement gives the smaller-battery XLE FWD estimate as 236 miles. Treat those as separate model-year claims, not proof that specifications carry over unchanged.

Toyota says the 2026 bZ adopts a NACS charging port, adds an 11-kW onboard AC charger, and includes battery preconditioning. It estimates a DC fast-charge session from 10% to 80% at around 30 minutes under ideal conditions. The 2027 release also describes NACS, battery preconditioning, and an approximately 30-minute 10%-to-80% DC fast-charge estimate under ideal conditions. Actual charging time depends on conditions; the quoted estimate is not a guarantee for every charger or trip. See Toyota’s 2026 bZ announcement and 2027 bZ announcement.
2026 bZ Woodland: more utility, with a range trade-off
The 2026 bZ Woodland is Toyota’s more utility-oriented BEV in the specifications provided. It comes with AWD and 375 combined system horsepower. Toyota lists up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity, 8.4 inches of ground clearance, and up to 74.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the rear seats folded.

Toyota states an EPA-estimated range of up to 281 miles, or 260 miles with optional all-terrain tires. The tire qualification matters when comparing the Woodland’s range with the bZ figures. The towing, clearance, and cargo numbers are manufacturer-published specifications; they do not establish tested towing range or independent off-road capability. Charging: included cable, home options, and network access
Toyota says the 2027 bZ has a NACS port, supports Level 1 and Level 2 charging, and includes a standard dual-voltage cable for home charging. A separate Level 2 charging setup may be useful for home charging, but Toyota’s included cable means buyers should not assume a separate charger is required. Installation needs and compatibility depend on the home’s electrical setup and chosen equipment.

For public fast charging, Toyota’s October 2025 announcement said 2026 bZ drivers could access more than 25,000 plugs in North America through the Tesla Supercharger Network. Toyota then identified Tesla as the first network supporting Plug & Charge for 2026 BEV owners, with IONNA, ChargePoint, and EVgo described as networks to follow. That was a dated rollout statement, not a live station count or confirmation of present-day compatibility at a particular location. Check Toyota’s current charging guidance and station availability before relying on a route or feature. The original announcement is Toyota’s October 2025 charging-network update.

- Prioritize the highest published bZ range: The 2027 XLE FWD Plus has Toyota’s top listed estimate, 314 miles, with the 74.7-kWh battery.
- Need AWD in the standard bZ: Compare the XLE AWD and Limited AWD; Toyota lists 288 and 299 miles respectively for 2027.
- Need more cargo and towing utility: The bZ Woodland adds a stated maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds and up to 74.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded, while its range estimate drops to 260 miles with optional all-terrain tires.
- Considering the C-HR: Toyota has named it among its 2026 BEV additions, but the specifications cited here do not provide enough detail to compare it with the bZ or Woodland.
Published estimates cannot settle questions such as winter range, trip-specific charging time, ownership cost, incentives, or local dealer stock. Those depend on conditions, location, and the exact vehicle; Toyota’s announcements do not provide independent cross-model tests or a complete cost comparison.
