Toyota sold 316,115 Camry Hybrids in the United States in 2025, a 54.6% increase from 2024. That is strong growth for the model, but Toyota’s figures do not show that it led all vehicle sales. Nor do U.S. market data support the claim that battery-electric cars broadly triumphed over hybrids: the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s 2025 summary says EV sales fell while hybrid sales rose.
How many Toyota Camry Hybrids did Toyota sell in 2025?
Toyota Motor North America reported 316,115 Camry Hybrid sales in the United States in 2025, up 54.6% from 205,156 in 2024. These are U.S. sales figures from Toyota’s 2026 year-end results release. They establish substantial year-over-year growth, not a first-place ranking across all cars or vehicle types.
Toyota Canada reported that Camry Hybrid sales in Canada grew 101.5% in 2025, setting an annual record. The release excerpt does not give the model’s Canadian unit total, so the Canadian growth rate should not be compared directly with the U.S. increase as if both described the same volume or market.
Did hybrid sales beat electric-car sales in 2025?
For the United States, the EIA’s 2025 market summary says electric-vehicle sales fell while hybrid sales continued to rise. That directional comparison does not establish a single winner across every market, model, or powertrain category, and it does not support a blanket claim that battery-electric cars beat hybrids in the United States that year. Results depend on geography and on what counts as an electric vehicle.

The Toyota figures describe the Camry Hybrid’s U.S. sales; they are not a comparison of total hybrid and battery-electric vehicle sales. Toyota’s reported model growth and the EIA’s broader U.S. market direction answer different questions.
What does Toyota mean by “electrified” sales?
Toyota Motor North America reported 1,183,248 Toyota and Lexus electrified-vehicle sales in the United States in 2025, equal to 47.0% of the companies’ total sales and up 17.6% year over year. “Electrified” is broader than battery-electric: Toyota’s annual report distinguishes hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) from battery electric vehicles (BEVs). A Toyota electrified-sales total should not be read as a count of fully electric cars.

- HEV: A hybrid electric vehicle, such as the Camry Hybrid. It is distinct from a battery electric vehicle in Toyota’s reporting.
- BEV: A battery electric vehicle, a separate category in Toyota’s annual report.
- PHEV: A plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. It combines plug-in charging with a hybrid powertrain and should not be conflated with a conventional HEV or a BEV.
How do Toyota’s Canadian figures compare?
Toyota Canada reported 123,886 electrified sales across Toyota and Lexus in 2025, representing 49.7% of its total sales. It separately reported 20,742 zero-emission vehicles, defining that total as EV, PHEV, and FCEV. That is not a BEV-only number. Keep these Canadian company figures separate from Toyota Motor North America’s U.S. totals.

What the 2025 sales figures establish—and what they do not
- Established: The Camry Hybrid’s U.S. sales rose to 316,115 in 2025, up 54.6% year over year.
- Not established: Toyota’s reported model total does not show that the Camry Hybrid dominated all vehicle sales or ranked first across the market.
- Established: Toyota and Lexus together sold 1,183,248 electrified vehicles in the United States, a category broader than BEVs.
