Full-dress luxury touring
Choose a Gold Wing Tour, K 1600 GTL, Pursuit or a similarly equipped machine when maximum weather protection, passenger accommodation, luggage and highway stability matter more than low weight. Reverse or other low-speed aids can be especially valuable because these motorcycles are physically substantial.

Compact or versatile touring
The NT1100 DCT and Versys 1100 are the logical starting points for riders who want long-distance capability without moving directly to the largest six-cylinder or American touring motorcycles. Their narrower remit can make everyday use and low-speed maneuvering easier, but confirm wind protection and passenger needs in person.

Comparison checklist before you buy
- Road use: decide whether your miles are mostly motorways, secondary roads, urban commuting or unpaved connectors.
- Solo versus two-up: inspect passenger seat size, grab rails, footpeg position, back support and available heated equipment.
- Wind and weather: compare fairing coverage and screen range at your height; an adjustable screen is not proof of equal protection for every rider.
- Engine and transmission: record layout, displacement and verified output from the exact local model. Treat Honda DCT as a transmission choice, not as a universal feature across the range.
- Fit and low-speed control: compare seat height, reach, steering lock and the manufacturer’s stated curb or running-order weight. Do not treat different weight standards as identical.
- Rider aids: separate standard equipment from options, including cruise control, ABS, traction functions, electronic suspension, heated controls, navigation and reversing aids.
- Ownership logistics: obtain local MSRP, destination and registration charges, service schedule, warranty terms, dealer coverage and insurance quotations. These items are not consistent across the cited markets.
A sensible buying process
- Choose the format first: full-dress, sport-touring, bagger or versatile touring.
- Shortlist two or three motorcycles available through dealers in your country, using the exact model year and trim.
- Measure your intended passenger and luggage needs; take helmets, riding gear and representative luggage to the dealer where permitted.
- Perform a supervised test ride, including parking-lot turns, braking and the type of road you normally ride. Have the passenger ride as well if two-up travel is central to the decision.
- Request written on-road pricing and the service, warranty and option details before placing a deposit.
