There is no definitive answer: “ugliest” is a matter of taste, and different writers and riders nominate different bikes. This countdown uses the ten motorcycles in Visordown Motorcycle Videos’ 2022 selection as its roster—not as an objective ranking—and looks at the visible design choice that may divide opinion on each one. The order below follows Visordown’s list; the styling observations are editorial judgments, not measured scores.
What makes a motorcycle look “ugly”?
Motorcycle design is judged against expectations: familiar proportions, a recognizable silhouette and bodywork that seems to belong to the bike’s purpose. A design can look awkward to one person and distinctive to another, especially when it borrows cues from cars, scooters or futuristic concepts. 1. BMW F650 CS Scarver
The Scarver’s smooth, spare bodywork departs from the visual language many riders expect from a motorcycle. Its clean, unconventional surfaces can read as purposeful modernism or as an unfinished-looking shape, depending on whether you like minimalism.

2. Honda Valkyrie Rune
The Rune’s striking, sculptural presence is the kind of styling that can dominate a first impression. Its visual drama may appeal to riders who want a motorcycle to make a statement; for others, the emphasis on spectacle can feel excessive.
3. Victory Vision
The Vision’s broad, highly integrated bodywork gives it a silhouette unlike a conventional exposed motorcycle. That strong visual mass can look cohesive to some eyes and bulky to others.

4. Buell RR1200 BattleTwin
The BattleTwin stands out for its unconventional proportions and visual layout. It is a reminder that mechanical-looking forms do not automatically read as elegant: a design can seem intriguing, awkward or both.
5. BMW C1 U
The BMW C1 is the clearest departure from the familiar motorcycle outline in this list. A second article describes the C1 as blending scooter and car cues, with a roof, roll cage and seatbelts. Those protective, car-like elements make it easy to see why the design divides opinion: it challenges the expectation that a motorcycle should be open and visually simple. 6. Aprilia Moto 6.5
The Moto 6.5’s unusual look comes across as deliberately different rather than conventional. Its pared-back, distinctive appearance may seem fresh to riders bored by familiar styling, while others may find its proportions difficult to warm to.
7. Bimota Mantra
The Mantra makes a strong impression through its unusual bodywork and silhouette. A design that refuses to blend in can become memorable, but memorability is not the same as universal appeal.

8. Gilera CX-125

10. BMW R 1200 C
The R 1200 C rounds out the selection with a cruiser silhouette that does not follow every conventional expectation for that category. Its distinct styling is likely to appeal to riders who want something recognizable but different—and to put off those who prefer a more traditional shape.

Readers do not simply accept or reject a published top ten. In a VMAX Forum discussion, a member named Rollie wrote, “Beauty , as well as Ugly , seems to be truly in the eyes of the beholder.” That is informal reader commentary, not survey evidence, but the thread also shows people nominating bikes beyond a given list and disagreeing with its choices. So this list is best read as a tour of designs that provoke a reaction, not a final ruling on which motorcycle deserves the label. The useful question is what each bike does differently—and whether that difference feels bold or awkward to you.
