The Rion RE90 was the fastest electric scooter in the historical 2022 comparison, with a published top-speed claim of 100 mph. The WEPED SST followed at a claimed 80 mph, but these figures are not results from one standardized test. This is a historical comparison of 2022-era published performance, with model, version, legal-mode, testing, and availability caveats made explicit.

The Rion RE90 was the fastest electric scooter in the historical 2022 comparison, with a published top-speed claim of 100 mph. The WEPED SST followed at a claimed 80 mph, while the Dualtron X2, Kaabo Wolf King GT, Dualtron Storm, Turbowheel Phaeton, Dualtron Thunder 2, Zero 11X, Outstorm MAXX Pro, and NAMI Burn-E filled out the ten-model list. These are headline specifications from a 2022 comparison—not results from one standardized, independently GPS-tested session. The historical source list and independent comparison data show why the order can change depending on how speed is measured.

This article preserves the 2022 availability context. It does not imply that every model remains available, that every listed speed is legal on public roads, or that the scooters were tested under identical conditions. For a buyer today, confirm the exact model revision, regional configuration, dealer inventory, warranty, parts support, and local regulations before paying a deposit.

Top 10 fastest electric scooters available in 2022

The speeds below are ranked according to the historical 2022 list. A published speed may come from a manufacturer, retailer, dashboard reading, or editorial compilation. Because the available sources do not provide a common GPS test protocol for all ten scooters, the tested-speed column deliberately avoids inventing an apples-to-apples result.

Speed conversions are approximate. Published figures are attributed to the historical 2022 comparison unless a manufacturer specification is specifically identified. A dash or unassigned test result means that the supplied sources do not establish a comparable independent measurement.

What each scooter represents

1. Rion RE90: the 100-mph headline leader

The Rion RE90 occupies the top position because the 2022 historical list attributes a claimed 100-mph maximum to it. That number places the RE90 in a different category from ordinary commuter scooters: it is best understood as an extreme hyperscooter for a specialist audience, not as a practical substitute for a city e-scooter.

The important qualification is the word claimed. The available evidence does not establish that 100 mph was achieved in a standardized, independently verified test shared with the other nine models. Rider weight, battery state, wind, temperature, tire pressure, controller settings, grade, and surface can all change the result. The RE90 therefore leads this historical specification ranking, but the ranking should not be read as a laboratory leaderboard or a recommendation to seek that speed on a public road.

2. WEPED SST: an extreme specialist machine

The WEPED SST appears second with a published 80-mph claim. Like the Rion, it belongs to the specialist hyperscooter end of the market, where acceleration, power delivery, chassis control, and operating environment matter as much as the number on a specification sheet.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no harmonized independent test result in the supplied evidence that makes the SST’s 80 mph directly comparable with the other entries. Availability may also be more specialized than for mainstream commuter scooters. Treat the figure as a historical published claim and confirm the exact seller, configuration, support arrangements, and legal use before considering one.

3. Dualtron X2: speed, mass, and version confusion

The Dualtron X2 was listed at 68 mph. A related Dualtron X-II UP document describes a dual hub-motor configuration rated at 8,300 watts and a maximum above 110 km/h under stated conditions. That documentation supports the X2 family’s place in an extreme-performance comparison, but it does not give permission to merge every X2, X-II, and X-II UP specification into one model.

Check the exact suffix, controller, battery, firmware, and regional edition. A scooter can look almost identical while differing in motor output, battery capacity, speed mode, brakes, or included equipment. The X2 should also be evaluated as a large, heavy performance machine rather than by top speed alone. Stopping distance, steering control, tire condition, and the quality of the riding surface become increasingly important as speed rises.

4. Kaabo Wolf King GT: the best-documented high-speed entry

The Kaabo Wolf King GT has one of the clearest manufacturer specification sets in the research. Kaabo documents dual 2,000-watt motors, a 72V 35Ah battery, hydraulic braking, dual suspension, 11-inch tires, a maximum above 100 km/h, and a maximum range of 180 km. Those specifications are available on Kaabo’s Wolf King GT page.

The historical comparison lists it at 62 mph, or roughly 100 km/h. The range figure needs equal care: Kaabo says the maximum range is measured under controlled conditions involving a 75-kg rider, a flat road, and a 25-km/h speed. That is not a promise of 180 km when riding near top speed, carrying a heavier rider, climbing hills, riding into wind, or using aggressive acceleration. The Wolf King GT is therefore a strong documented reference in this group, but its range and top-speed figures still describe particular conditions.

5. Dualtron Storm: performance hardware matters more than the number

The Dualtron Storm appears in the 2022 list at a claimed 62 mph. It is a useful reminder that a high-speed comparison should not become a contest of maximum figures alone. The relevant questions include whether the brakes can repeatedly control the scooter, how the suspension behaves over imperfect pavement, how much the scooter weighs, how securely the rider can maintain control, and whether the tires and surface are appropriate.

Dualtron has produced several high-power models and revisions with similar naming. Verify the exact Storm version and regional specification rather than assuming that an old retailer listing represents every unit. The historical 62-mph figure is included for comparison, not presented as a standardized independent test result.

6. Turbowheel Phaeton: a historical 60-mph contender

The Turbowheel Phaeton is listed at 60 mph, approximately 97 km/h. It remains relevant to this article because it was part of the historical 2022 top-ten set, but the available evidence is primarily list material rather than a common test report with published test conditions.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For that reason, the Phaeton is best used as a comparison point for the high-speed market of the period. A prospective buyer should confirm whether a listing refers to the original model, a regional configuration, or a later replacement, and should investigate parts, battery service, charger compatibility, and warranty support before treating an old specification as a current buying option.

7. Dualtron Thunder 2: verify the exact year and region

The Dualtron Thunder 2 also appears with a 60-mph published figure. It is a relevant production comparison for shoppers who want extreme performance without jumping immediately to the most specialized hyperscooters. However, model-year and regional specifications should be checked carefully.

Speed modes, firmware restrictions, battery options, included equipment, and legal configuration can differ by market. Confirm the exact unit’s battery voltage and capacity, motor and controller configuration, braking system, tire specification, and maximum speed before comparing it with another Thunder 2 listing or with the original Thunder.

8. Zero 11X: high power with a substantial chassis

The Zero 11X is listed at 60 mph and is commonly considered in the extreme-performance and off-road-oriented part of the scooter category. Its place on this list should not be interpreted as evidence that it is portable or commuter-friendly. Chassis size, folded dimensions, weight, lifting requirements, and storage space can matter more than a few miles per hour for everyday ownership.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Its best-use description is therefore deliberately narrow: high-power performance comparison and suitable off-road or private-property riding, where permitted. Anyone considering a Zero 11X should assess how the scooter will be transported, stored, charged, and maintained—not merely whether the claimed maximum is higher than a competing model.

9. Outstorm MAXX Pro: just below the 60-mph group

The Outstorm MAXX Pro is listed at a claimed 56 mph, or about 90 km/h. That places it below the cluster of 60-mph entries in this historical ranking but still far above the speed range of mainstream adult electric scooters.

The distinction is meaningful for comparison, but it does not make the MAXX Pro a conventional commuter. The source material does not provide a common independent test result or a complete motor-and-battery specification set for this comparison. Treat the 56-mph figure as a historical published value and verify the exact configuration, braking equipment, tire condition, and parts support.

10. NAMI Burn-E: powerful hardware with a restricted road-legal setting

The NAMI Burn-E closes the historical list at a published 60 mph. The hardware documentation describes dual motors, hydraulic suspension, hydraulic brakes, 11-inch tubeless tires, and substantial battery configurations. Those features help explain why the Burn-E belongs in a high-performance comparison.

Its documentation also illustrates why configuration and jurisdiction must be separated from unrestricted capability. The NAMI manual’s displayed 25-km/h speed field appears to describe a restricted road-legal configuration—approximately 15.5 mph—not the unrestricted performance figure used by the historical comparison. A road-legal setting, an unlocked private-property mode, and a manufacturer’s maximum claim are three different facts. Confirm which mode and market a specific scooter uses before comparing it with another Burn-E listing.

A useful benchmark: the Segway SuperScooter GT2

The Segway SuperScooter GT2 was not included in the historical top ten, but it is a helpful reference point because its documentation is more recognizable to buyers comparing premium performance with specialist hyperscooters. Segway lists a maximum speed of 43.5 mph, or 70 km/h, dual 1,500-watt rated motors, 1,512 Wh of battery capacity, a 330-pound payload, and a maximum range of 55.9 miles. Those figures appear in Segway’s GT2 support documentation.

At 43.5 mph, the GT2 is slower on paper than all ten entries in the historical list except none—it is below the listed 56-to-100-mph range—but that is precisely why it is useful context. A more documented premium product can be a more sensible comparison for riders who value a recognizable support ecosystem, payload information, and a defined specification set over the highest possible headline speed. It is still much faster than ordinary commuter scooters and should not be treated as a normal sidewalk or bike-lane vehicle.

Why the fastest-scooter rankings disagree

Top-speed numbers in this category are not apples-to-apples. Before accepting any ranking, identify what the number represents:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Manufacturer or retailer claim: A maximum published by a brand or seller may be achieved only with a full battery, a light rider, ideal pavement, favorable weather, and an unrestricted mode.
  • Dashboard speed: A display reading is not automatically a GPS measurement. Calibration, wheel size, tire wear, and settings can affect the number.
  • Independent test: A useful test should identify its instrument, route, rider, battery state, wind, surface, and whether the result is a peak or sustained speed. Even good tests are snapshots rather than universal guarantees.
  • Restricted versus unrestricted mode: A legal 25-km/h setting can exist on a scooter capable of substantially more in another configuration. The NAMI Burn-E documentation makes this distinction especially clear.
  • Version and region: A Dualtron X2 should not be silently merged with an X-II UP, and a Thunder 2 specification from one market may not describe a unit sold in another.
  • Real-world conditions: Rider mass, charge level, temperature, wind, incline, tire pressure, surface, controller settings, and acceleration strategy all affect performance.

Electric Scooter Guides’ comparison is useful context because it reports a different ranking and speed set for some of the same fast models. That disagreement is not necessarily a contradiction: it demonstrates why a claimed maximum and a tested result should be labeled separately.

How extreme these scooters are compared with mainstream models

These ten scooters represent the extreme-performance end of electric micromobility, not the normal adult commuter market. In its 2022 micromobility market report, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that top speeds among sampled adult products ranged from 12 to 24 mph, with most products between 15 and 19 mph.

That comparison changes how the list should be read. Even the Outstorm MAXX Pro’s claimed 56 mph is more than twice the upper end of that sampled mainstream range. The Rion RE90’s 100-mph claim is not simply a faster commuter specification; it signals a different level of risk, equipment demand, stopping distance, skill requirement, and likely legal restriction.

Which one should you choose?

There is no universally best scooter in this list. The right shortlist depends on whether the reader is comparing a historical specification, seeking a high-speed private-property machine, or looking for a premium performance scooter that is easier to document and support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

<

  • For the highest published speed: The Rion RE90 leads at a claimed 100 mph, followed by the WEPED SST at 80 mph. These should be treated as specialist hyperscooters, not ordinary transportation.
  • For a well-documented high-performance package: The Kaabo Wolf King GT has unusually clear published information for motors, battery, tires, suspension, brakes, maximum speed, and range conditions. Its claims still require the same caveats as the rest.
  • For Dualtron comparisons: Confirm the exact X2, X-II UP, Storm, or Thunder 2 version before comparing prices or speed. Similar names do not guarantee identical hardware.
  • For off-road-oriented extreme performance: The Zero 11X and Dualtron X2 are better considered alongside chassis size, suspension, tires, and transport requirements than alongside commuter scooters.
  • For a documented premium reference below the extreme group: The Segway GT2’s 43.5-mph specification provides useful context, although it remains very fast and is not automatically legal or appropriate for public-road use.
  • For the NAMI Burn-E: Determine whether the unit is restricted to a road-legal setting or configured for unrestricted private-property performance. Do not compare its 25-km/h legal field directly with the historical 60-mph claim.

If you are shopping rather than researching the 2022 market, begin with a current fast electric scooter search and then filter by the exact model, local rules, service availability, battery specification, and verified test evidence. A broad marketplace result does not prove that every scooter in this historical list is sold there, and specialist inventory can change.

Safety and legality are part of the specification

Safety warning: A scooter capable of 60, 80, or 100 mph is not a normal commuter scooter. Do not test an unrestricted maximum on a public road, bike lane, sidewalk, or trail unless the exact vehicle and use are expressly lawful there. Use a suitable controlled environment, training, and protective equipment.

There is no universal rule that makes a high-speed electric scooter street legal. Before riding, check the law in the exact city, state, province, or country where the scooter will operate. Relevant rules can include maximum permitted speed, vehicle classification, registration, licensing, lighting and equipment, insurance, helmet requirements, where powered vehicles may travel, and restrictions on private property or organized tracks.

Mode selection matters too. A dealer may sell a scooter with a restricted road setting, while the same hardware may offer a faster mode for private property. Unlocking that mode can change both the riding risk and the legal status. Never assume that a displayed legal-mode speed makes every other mode legal.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

At minimum, a rider considering this category should use a properly fitted helmet appropriate to the riding environment, along with gloves and protective clothing. A full-face electric scooter helmet may be a sensible part of a high-speed kit, but no generic helmet should be assumed suitable for every speed; verify certification, fit, condition, and the manufacturer’s intended use. Protective equipment reduces injury risk but does not make an illegal or poorly controlled ride safe.

Before every ride, inspect tire pressure and damage, brake lever feel, brake-fluid condition where applicable, steering play, suspension fasteners, throttle response, battery mounting, charging connectors, and visible wiring. Start in the lowest practical mode, practice braking and turning in a closed area, and leave a large margin for surface changes, pedestrians, animals, traffic, and unexpected obstacles. At these speeds, a pothole or loss of traction can overwhelm the rider before there is time to react.

What to verify before buying a 2022-listed scooter

  1. Exact identity: Record the full model name, suffix, model year, battery option, controller configuration, and region. This is essential for Dualtron X2/X-II UP and Thunder variants.
  2. Speed evidence: Ask whether the number is a claim, dashboard reading, or independently measured GPS result. Request the test conditions rather than accepting an unexplained maximum.
  3. Legal configuration: Confirm the restricted speed, available modes, and whether the seller’s configuration is lawful where you intend to ride.
  4. Electrical compatibility: Verify charger voltage, connector, battery voltage, battery capacity, chemistry, and manufacturer compatibility. Do not substitute a charger or battery based only on a similar plug.
  5. Stopping and control: Examine the brake type, tire size and construction, suspension, steering geometry, deck stability, and rider-weight limit. Maximum speed is only useful if the complete chassis can control and stop safely.
  6. Ownership support: Check warranty terms, replacement batteries, tires, tubes or tubeless repair support, brake parts, firmware support, and who performs service.
  7. Transport and storage: Measure the folded scooter and account for its weight. A scooter that cannot be safely lifted, secured, charged, or stored is a poor daily choice regardless of its top speed.
  8. Availability: A page that existed in 2022 does not establish present inventory. Confirm stock, delivery geography, return terms, and whether the listed specification is for the unit actually being sold.

Bottom line

The Rion RE90 is the historical 2022 list leader at a claimed 100 mph, with the WEPED SST next at 80 mph. But the most responsible conclusion is not simply that one scooter is fastest. The figures come from mixed source types and conditions, and independent comparisons produce different results. Treat the ranking as a historical guide to the era’s headline performance, verify exact versions and tested evidence, and view every model as specialized equipment whose legality, stopping ability, protective requirements, and riding environment matter at least as much as its maximum-speed claim.

Frequently Asked Questions

What was the fastest electric scooter in 2022?

The Rion RE90 was the leader of the historical 2022 comparison, with a published top-speed claim of 100 mph. That figure is not presented as a standardized independent test result, so it should not be treated as a guaranteed real-world speed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are the top speeds in this list independently tested?

No. The listed speeds come from mixed sources, including historical published figures, manufacturer specifications, retailer claims, dashboard readings, and independent tests. Rider weight, battery charge, weather, surface, tire pressure, controller settings, and restricted modes can all change the result.

Are 60-mph or 100-mph electric scooters street legal?

Not automatically. Legality depends on the exact jurisdiction, vehicle classification, speed mode, equipment, registration, insurance, and where the scooter is ridden. A scooter may have a restricted road-legal mode and a much faster private-property mode.

How does the Segway GT2 compare with the fastest scooters?

The Segway SuperScooter GT2 provides useful context at a documented maximum of 43.5 mph or 70 km/h. It is slower than the ten historical entries, but it illustrates the difference between a premium performance product with a detailed specification and a specialist hyperscooter. It is still far faster than a typical commuter scooter.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The Rion RE90 led the historical 2022 comparison with a claimed 100 mph, but no common test proves that every number in the ranking is directly comparable. Verify the model version, test method, legal mode, support, and local rules before treating any of these extreme-performance scooters as a purchase or transportation option.
