Tom Blomqvist put the No. 60 Acura ARX-06 on pole for the 29th annual Motul Petit Le Mans, leading an Acura Meyer Shank Racing front-row lockout. Nick Yelloly qualified second in the team’s No. 93 Acura, 0.222 seconds behind. The qualifying result set the grid for the 10-hour WeatherTech Championship season finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
Blomqvist set the pace in qualifying
On Friday, October 2, 2026, Blomqvist lapped the 2.54-mile Road Atlanta circuit in 1:09.703, averaging 131.184 mph. Yelloly’s best lap was 1:09.925 at 130.768 mph. IMSA reported that the two Acuras were the only cars to break the 1:10 mark.

The margin establishes who earned the top two starting spots; it does not establish how the cars would perform over the race. Petit Le Mans is a 10-hour event, and qualifying pace is only one part of the weekend.

Both cars were fielded by Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian. Blomqvist’s race co-drivers were Colin Braun and Scott Dixon; Yelloly’s were Renger van der Zande and Alex Palou.

Behind the Acura pair, Sheldon van der Linde qualified third in the No. 24 BMW M Team WRT BMW M Hybrid V8, and Jack Aitken took fourth in the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R.
A strong result after a difficult Thursday
The No. 60 had limited track time during Thursday’s three free-practice sessions after a problem. Blomqvist said the crew worked late to address it, and described the pole as a meaningful reward for that effort. He also credited execution for the result, while noting that race day would bring a different challenge.

“I really enjoy this place, especially in qualifying; it’s always been good to me,” Blomqvist told IMSA. “I think today was more about executing more than anything. The expectation was to fight for pole. Obviously, the team did a fantastic job with the 1-2. But we know obviously today is one thing and tomorrow is a very different one.”

IMSA noted that the ARX-06 had earned more Motul Pole Awards than any other GTP car over the preceding four years. Blomqvist’s Road Atlanta pole was his third and his second consecutive at the circuit, according to IMSA.

When and where the race was scheduled
Petit Le Mans was scheduled to start at 12:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. Before the race, IMSA listed Peacock for U.S. flag-to-flag coverage, and IMSA.TV or IMSA’s official YouTube channel for international viewers. NBC was scheduled to show the opening three hours, with NBCSN joining in progress for the finish. Those are the event’s reported 2026 broadcast plans, not an upcoming schedule.

IMSA described the team’s planned pause after Saturday’s race as its last scheduled start “for now.” That wording signals a pause in the schedule, not a confirmed permanent withdrawal.
