Thrustmaster’s T598 is a sim-racing wheel family sold in separate PlayStation/PC and Xbox/PC bundles. Both include a detachable 30-cm steering wheel and Raceline Pedals LTE; choose the version for your console, then check game and accessory compatibility before buying. Thrustmaster advertises 5 Nm of constant torque, +100% overshoot capability and 5 ms responsiveness, but those are manufacturer specifications and claims—not independent comparative test results.
What is the Thrustmaster T598?
The T598 is both a servo-base product family and a complete wheel bundle. The bundles pair a T598 base with a detachable 30-cm (11.8-inch) rim and Raceline Pedals LTE. The product family uses Thrustmaster’s Direct Axial Drive (DaD) motor design, which the company describes as an axial-flux motor.
Thrustmaster says DaD is designed to provide force feedback without cogging, and promotes its HARMONY high-frequency torque and controlled resonance and vibration as additional wheel-and-cockpit haptic feedback. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions of the technology; they do not establish that the T598 outperforms competing wheel bases.

These are distinct platform variants, not one universal console bundle. Before purchase, confirm that the bundle matches your console and that the particular racing game supports the wheel. The Xbox/PC listing describes its pedal set as metal; check the regional listing for the exact bundle you intend to buy.

What do the T598 specifications mean?
- 5 Nm constant torque and +100% overshoot capability: Thrustmaster lists 5 Nm as constant torque and advertises an overshoot capability of +100%. The overshoot claim should not be read as a second constant-torque rating.
- 5 ms responsiveness: This is the responsiveness or latency figure Thrustmaster states for the T598; the available product descriptions do not provide an independent measurement methodology.
- Race Dash screen: The base includes a display for settings and race information. Some display functions depend on PC use or a compatible game.
Thrustmaster distinguishes DaD from conventional Direct Drive by the motor technology, despite the similar names. That explanation clarifies the company’s terminology, but is not an independent performance comparison.
Will existing Thrustmaster wheels, pedals and shifters connect?
Compatibility depends on the exact accessory, quick-release hardware and connection method. The T598 compatibility information lists Raceline Pedals LTE and T-LCM pedals, TH8A and TH8S shifters, and the TSS Handbrake, subject to model-specific connection rules.
Wheel add-ons and quick release
Thrustmaster lists the Hypercar Wheel Add-On, SportCar Steering Wheel, Formula Wheel Add-On Ferrari SF-25 Edition and GT Wheel Add-On as compatible with the base’s native latch system. Some older add-ons require a Quick Release Adapter or Quick Release Upgrade. Check the specific rim’s compatibility listing and required hardware rather than assuming every Thrustmaster wheel attaches directly.
Pedals and shifters
Connection requirements vary by accessory. For PC use, Thrustmaster says the TH8A and TSS Handbrake should connect directly to a PC USB port for optimal use; when connected to the base’s DIN port on PC, they provide sequential-shifter functionality only. The TH8S connects to PC by USB. Some load-cell pedal connections also have model-specific recommendations, so verify the instructions for the exact pedal set.

How does the T598 mount?
The servo base has four attachment points underneath for cockpit mounting. For a desk or table, Thrustmaster specifies a separately sold Desk Mounting Kit. Include the appropriate mounting hardware in your setup plan rather than assuming the base’s cockpit attachment points will secure it to a desk.
Price and availability
On October 8, 2026, Thrustmaster’s US eShop pages listed both bundles at $599.99 and showed them in stock. This is a time- and region-specific store observation, not a guaranteed current price or availability; check the relevant regional store before ordering.

Guillemot Corporation’s 2024 annual report says the T598 set—wheelbase with Axial Flux motor, Raceline Pedals LTE and Sportcar Wheel Add-On—was unveiled at ADAC SimRacing Expo in Germany on October 19, 2024. The report says it became available from US retailer Best Buy from October 19, shipped in China from mid-November, and in Europe from late November 2024.
