A maker known as stezenast built a custom Raspberry Pi touchscreen head unit for a 2006 Infiniti G35 sedan, fitting a 7-inch display into the double-DIN opening with a 3D-printed bracket. The reported audio path fed a HiFiBerry DAC+ ADC Pro into the car’s factory Bose amplifier. It’s a one-off installation, not a plug-and-play G35 kit or a complete installation guide.
What the G35 build included
Hackster.io’s project account describes a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B running the standard Raspberry Pi OS desktop interface, paired with an official Raspberry Pi 7-inch touchscreen and a HiFiBerry DAC+ ADC Pro. The screen was mounted in the double-DIN opening using a custom 3D-printed bracket. Raspberry Pi documents its Touch Display as a 7-inch screen for interactive projects, including entertainment systems, and lists compatibility with Raspberry Pi B+ and later; that confirms display-to-computer compatibility, not dashboard fitment. The project’s author described the goal as: “All this started as a journey to get a Hi-Fi aux input for my car without having to swap literally everything,” Hackster.io’s account of the build. The report identifies the maker only by the pseudonym stezenast.
How the audio and display were arranged
Audio through the factory Bose amplifier
According to the project account, the HiFiBerry DAC+ ADC Pro’s output was spliced into the G35’s factory Bose amplifier, which the maker said was in the trunk. The account gives the HiFiBerry board’s playback capability as 24-bit 392kHz; this is the report’s stated figure, not an independently verified measurement or an indication of the system’s audible performance.

Do not confuse that HiFiBerry board with Raspberry Pi’s separately named DAC Pro. Raspberry Pi lists its own DAC Pro at 24-bit 192kHz, but that is a different product and specification: Raspberry Pi DAC Pro specifications.
Screen placement
The 7-inch touchscreen sat in the double-DIN opening on a bracket made for this installation. A screen’s nominal size and compatibility with a Raspberry Pi do not establish that it will fit a particular dashboard. The report does not provide trim-level measurements or a verified bracket design for other G35s.

Power and controls in this particular installation
The maker described taking 12V power from the cigarette lighter, converting it to 5V 3A, and routing it through a marine-grade switch panel. In this build, the panel also controlled the interior lights and GPS, included two USB charging ports, and displayed system voltage. These are reported details of one car’s setup, not wiring instructions or a recommended method for another vehicle.
The computer named in the account, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, has a quad-core 1.2GHz Broadcom BCM2837 64-bit processor, 1GB RAM, wireless LAN and Bluetooth, four USB 2 ports, and a DSI display port, according to Raspberry Pi’s product page. What it could do—and what remained a plan
The maker highlighted loading and playing music videos from a hidden USB stick, calling it the best part of the project. The account also says a CAN bus module was a planned future addition, intended to support high-speed data logging and Python-generated Excel reports. It does not report that the module was installed or that data logging was completed.

- It shows: one way to combine a Raspberry Pi, touchscreen, custom bracket, DAC, and factory amplifier in a 2006 G35 sedan.
- It does not establish: universal fitment across G35 years or trims, a tested wiring recipe, compatibility with every Bose system, or measured sound-quality gains over the stock stereo.
- It is a custom build: the account does not identify a commercial conversion kit or a ready-made vehicle harness used for the installation.
For anyone considering a similar approach, the key work is not just selecting a Pi and screen: the display needs a vehicle-specific physical mount, the audio signal path must suit the factory amplifier, and automotive power and controls need to be planned for the particular car. The project account documents the maker’s choices but does not supply enough dimensions or wiring detail to reproduce them as a step-by-step installation.
