The Xiaomi SU7 was Xiaomi’s first production car and its first battery-electric vehicle. It debuted in China on December 28, 2023, and went on sale on March 28, 2024, initially in Standard, Pro, and Max forms.
That description is still historically accurate, but it needs an update. Xiaomi now also sells the YU7 electric SUV and the high-performance SU7 Ultra. More importantly, the original 2024 SU7 has been replaced by the new-generation 2026 SU7, which launched in mainland China on March 19, 2026.

What is the Xiaomi SU7?
The SU7 is a four-door battery-electric sedan developed by Xiaomi, the Chinese technology company best known internationally for smartphones and consumer electronics. It is not a rebadged phone-company curiosity: Xiaomi designed the car as a high-performance electric sedan and built an ecosystem around it that connects with the company’s wider software and smart-device products.
The original SU7 was positioned against cars such as the Tesla Model 3 and other premium electric sedans. The current-generation car is offered in three versions: Standard, Pro, and Max. Xiaomi’s headline specifications vary significantly by trim, particularly for range, voltage architecture, and performance.

2026 Xiaomi SU7 prices and range
These are the manufacturer’s mainland-China starting prices and CLTC range claims:

The Pro has the longest claimed range, not the Max. That is an important distinction because older coverage often refers to an “800-km SU7” without specifying the model year or configuration.
CLTC is China’s test cycle and generally produces more optimistic figures than the EPA procedure used for U.S. vehicle ratings. The 902-km Pro figure should therefore not be treated as equivalent to 902 km of EPA-rated real-world range. The SU7 also has no official EPA rating because Xiaomi does not currently sell it in the United States.

Performance and charging
All 2026 SU7 versions use Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V6s Plus motor, which has a maximum speed of 22,000 rpm. The quickest version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.08 seconds, and the claimed top speed is 265 km/h.

The electrical architecture is not identical across the range:
- The Standard and Pro use a 752-volt peak-voltage architecture.
- The Max uses a 897-volt peak-voltage architecture.
Xiaomi claims charging from 10% to 80% in as little as 12 minutes. It also claims that some configurations can add up to 670 km of CLTC range in 15 minutes. Those are maximum manufacturer claims dependent on the car, charger, battery temperature, state of charge, and other conditions; they should not be read as a guaranteed charging result at every public fast charger.

That hardware supports Xiaomi’s intelligent-driving functions, but it does not turn the SU7 into an autonomous car. Driver-assistance systems remain subject to software limits, road conditions, local regulations, and the driver’s responsibility to monitor the vehicle.

Safety equipment
Xiaomi says the 2026 SU7 has nine airbags and a steel-aluminum body structure incorporating 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel. The car also has mechanical emergency door-release provisions.
Safety equipment and crash-test results should not be confused with sensor-count marketing. The presence of LiDAR, cameras, and a powerful processor describes the vehicle’s assistance hardware; it is not by itself a crash-safety rating or proof that every driving scenario can be handled without human supervision.
Is the Xiaomi SU7 sold in the United States?
No. Xiaomi’s official 2026 announcement says the SU7 series is not for sale outside mainland China. There is no official U.S. retail launch, U.S. MSRP, EPA range rating, or American dealer network to report.

A privately imported SU7 would also face certification, taxation, tariffs, shipping, insurance, servicing, software, parts, and charging-support complications. Converting the Chinese price directly into dollars would therefore give a misleading estimate of what the car would cost in another market.

What happened to the original 2024 SU7?
The first-generation SU7 launched with Standard, Pro, and Max versions. Its launch-era Standard price was RMB 215,900, which is lower than the RMB 219,900 starting price of the 2026 Standard. Older articles also commonly describe the car as having an 800-km range or an 800-volt charging system.
Those descriptions need qualification. The 800-km figure referred to an original configuration or launch-era headline, while the 2026 figures are 720 km, 902 km, and 835 km CLTC depending on trim. The original versions also did not all share the same high-voltage setup; the Max was the model associated with the higher-voltage architecture. It is inaccurate to apply the current 897-volt Max specification to every earlier SU7.

In January 2025, China’s vehicle-recall authority recorded two recalls covering a combined 30,931 first-generation SU7 Standard vehicles. The issue was a software time-synchronization problem that could affect detection of stationary obstacles during assisted parking.
Xiaomi’s remedy was a free over-the-air software update. The recall authority reported no accidents or injuries associated with the recalls. This was a first-generation software issue and should not be presented as evidence that every SU7, including the 2026 model, has the same defect.

Is the SU7 Xiaomi’s only car?
No. It was Xiaomi’s first car, not its only car. Xiaomi launched the YU7 electric SUV in June 2025 and also sells the SU7 Ultra, a more extreme performance derivative of the SU7 sedan.
The SU7 remains the model that established Xiaomi as a vehicle manufacturer. But any current buying guide or specification sheet should distinguish between the 2024 first-generation car, the SU7 Ultra, and the new-generation 2026 SU7.
