Two Broad Arrow Auctions catalog entries give historical original U.S. prices for individual cars, not current market values: one 1990 car had an original price including destination of $399,150, while a 1991 car had a suggested retail price of $423,250.
Those figures belong to the specific cataloged cars and their original U.S. pricing. They do not establish what any F40 is worth today, nor do they explain where the title’s $25,000 comparison came from. The catalogs also distinguish the cars by year and record details such as market specification, provenance, originality and condition—factors a buyer would need to assess individually.
What a Ferrari F40 is
Ferrari produced the F40 from 1987 through 1992. Broad Arrow’s auction catalogs report total production of 1,311 cars; the 2024 catalog says 213 were destined for the U.S. market, and the 2025 catalog describes 213 official U.S. deliveries. These are catalog-reported figures, not a broader independent population study.

The technical specifications recorded for the 1990 U.S.-market example include a 2,936 cc twin-turbocharged V8, 478 horsepower and a five-speed manual transmission. Broad Arrow describes 201 mph as the original claimed top speed, rather than presenting it as a modern independently verified test result.

A miniature is one possible source of confusion, but the available evidence does not connect a $25,000 price to a particular model. RM Sotheby’s cataloged a handcrafted Ferrari F40 at 1:8 scale in its 2019 London sale. That entry establishes that collectible scale models exist; it does not establish a $25,000 price, current availability or a specific product behind the title.

Without the image or listing associated with the $25,000 figure, it is not possible to say whether it depicts a miniature, replica, damaged car, partial project or something else. A photo alone may not establish authenticity or sale price. A full-size F40, a replica and a scale model are different things, and a price should be tied to an identifiable listing and its terms.

How to assess a specific F40 listing
- Confirm what is being sold. Check whether the listing is for a full-size Ferrari, a replica, a scale model, parts or another item.
- Check the car’s identity and market specification. The auction catalogs show why year and U.S.-market documentation matter when comparing individual F40s.
- Review provenance, originality and condition. These are relevant comparison points documented in auction catalogs, but the cited records do not provide a current valuation formula.
- Separate asking price from evidence of value. An advertised figure is not the same as a completed sale or an independent appraisal.
