The high-mileage car has been described in media reports as a possible Bugatti development or test vehicle, but Bugatti has not publicly confirmed that this specific car is one.
What the reported odometer readings show
Autoblog and Carscoops reported the 175,797-km reading, equivalent to approximately 109,235 miles, from photographs credited to Penfold. Carscoops dates the sighting to October 2025. In a separate report in February 2026, Autoblog described a Chiron shared by Bugatti Rimac CEO Mate Rimac as showing around 176,000 km, or 109,361 miles. The figures are close but not identical, and the reports do not establish that the two sightings document the same moment or reading.
These reports document odometer displays at particular times. They do not establish the car’s continuous mileage history, independently authenticate its chassis identity, or reveal its complete service record or current mechanical condition. Autoblog’s January 26, 2026 report and Carscoops’ January 25, 2026 report give the first figure and its context.
Is it a factory development or test car?
Coverage has described the high-mileage Chiron as a development or test car, a plausible explanation for a factory-associated vehicle accumulating extensive road mileage. That identification remains a report, not a public confirmation from Bugatti about this individual car. Without confirmation of the chassis and its history, the odometer photos alone cannot settle how or why it was driven.

The distinction matters: a vehicle used for development may have a different duty cycle, maintenance history, and repair history from a privately owned Chiron. Its reported mileage is not evidence that every customer car will reach the same figure, or that reaching it is inexpensive.
What the mileage does—and does not—say about Chiron durability
A Chiron photographed at roughly 109,000 miles is an unusual high-mileage sighting, not a controlled reliability study. The available reports do not establish the car’s mechanical condition, whether it has had an engine or gearbox rebuild, or how its upkeep compares with customer-owned examples. Nor do they provide a verified dataset of typical Chiron mileage, reliability, or maintenance costs.

Bugatti says the Chiron has been hand-built in Molsheim since 2016 and describes the model as a luxury hyper sports car with at least 1,500 PS. Those facts provide context for the car’s extraordinary engineering brief; they do not verify the photographed vehicle’s condition or predict the lifespan of another Chiron. Bugatti’s official Chiron press release provides that model background.
What has been reported about servicing
Carscoops summarizes a service plan that it says includes at least a yearly inspection, a more in-depth service roughly every four years, and a complete oil and fluid change every 14 months or 15,000 km, whichever comes first. The report also describes the work as labor-intensive and notes the Chiron’s carbon-ceramic brakes. These are Carscoops-reported details; the underlying official service-plan document was not available in the cited coverage, so they should not be treated as a universal or current owner’s-manual instruction. Exact requirements should be confirmed against Bugatti service documentation for the individual car.

Carscoops’ service summary and its note that an engine or gearbox rebuild is unclear appear in its report on the high-mileage Chiron. The photos do not answer those maintenance-history questions.

Rimac’s separate Chiron post gives a nearby reported reading of about 176,000 km (109,361 miles). Autoblog quoted him saying, “Yup, we want our hypercars to be used.” That is a general statement about use, not a direct explanation of the photographed car or confirmation of its identity. Claims that this is the highest-mileage Chiron should remain qualified: the cited reporting does not provide records covering every example. The strongest supported conclusion is narrower and still striking—the Chiron has been reported with an odometer reading around 109,000 miles, while the car’s precise identity, history, and mechanical condition remain unverified publicly.
