Lens Lizard is a remote-operated washer that mounts behind the rear license plate and sprays winter-grade washer fluid toward a backup camera. It is designed for vehicles whose camera sits above the plate, while recessed plates on some trucks and SUVs may require an adapter. The maker currently lists it as a preorder, so verify price, fit and delivery before ordering.
What Lens Lizard does
The device uses the vehicle’s existing license-plate holes for mounting. A wireless cabin remote activates an aimable nozzle, sending washer fluid toward the camera lens without requiring the driver to stop and wipe it by hand.

Individual drivers report these conditions as reasons a rear camera can become difficult to use, but the available accounts do not establish how common the problem is or prove that a washer improves crash outcomes.

These capacity, longevity and durability figures are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results. The maker also says cold-weather, drop, vibration and leak testing, plus FCC certification for the United States and ISED certification for Canada, are in progress; do not treat those certifications or tests as completed.

Will it fit your vehicle?
Camera position matters more than the model name
The key requirement is a rear camera located above the license plate with a clear spray path. A vehicle appearing on the maker’s fit list is not enough if its camera and plate geometry differ by trim or model year.
Recessed plates and trucks
Some trucks and SUVs place the plate in a recess. The maker says those installations may need an adapter plate. Measure the distance and angles between the plate mounting holes and camera, then confirm the exact trim with Lens Lizard before buying.

Price, preorder status and delivery
The maker currently lists one unit at $109 and a two-pack at $199. The listing describes the product as a preorder and gives a December–January shipping window for the United States and Canada. Prices, inventory and dates can change, so check the product page immediately before payment and read its cancellation, warranty and return terms.
The maker reports more than 4,500 Kickstarter backers and more than $430,000 raised in a product update labeled March 19. Those are company-reported campaign totals, not independently audited figures.

Installation and daily use
Installation considerations
- Confirm camera and plate geometry, including whether an adapter is needed.
- Choose the included screw size that matches the vehicle’s plate hardware.
- Mount the washer behind the plate without obstructing the camera, plate, lamps or other equipment.
- Aim the nozzle at the center of the camera lens and test the spray pattern while parked.
- Fill the reservoir with winter-grade washer fluid and keep the remote accessible to the driver.
Refilling and cold weather
The reservoir is refillable. The maker specifies winter-grade fluid rather than plain water; using a fluid rated for the expected temperatures helps reduce freezing risk. Spray frequency will vary with road salt, rain, snow and how often the vehicle is driven, so the approximately 200-spray estimate should not be treated as a guaranteed interval.
What it cannot do
A spray cannot repair a scratched, cloudy or physically damaged lens, and it does not replace a visual check when the image remains obscured. Keep the camera, plate area and nozzle clear of packed ice, and stop safely if cleaning is needed beyond a remote spray.

How it compares with other aftermarket cleaners
New Atlas previously described an approximately $100 ClearVU truck camera-cleaner system and a $145 Rear View Safety camera-mounted system, but those prices are historical and should not be assumed current. Safety claims: convenience is established, outcomes are not
Creator Mike Klein told WCAX that the idea is “a safety thing, but second to that is convenience.” He also described enjoying the ability to clean the prototype from inside the car. Those statements explain the founder’s motivation and experience; they are not evidence that Lens Lizard prevents collisions, improves reaction time or makes reversing safer.
