The list is a midyear snapshot based on CarEdge inventory and sales data from the preceding 45 days—not a full-year sales ranking or a count of vehicles currently on dealer lots.
What were the slowest-selling cars in the August 2025 snapshot?
Motor1 reported the following order using CarEdge data on dealer inventory and recent sales. “Days of supply” compares the inventory reported for sale with the pace of sales during the prior 45 days.

Motor1’s August 2025 report attributes the figures to CarEdge. The observation date matters: these values describe the reported snapshot, not inventory or selling conditions later in 2025 or today.
What does days of supply mean?
Days of supply estimates how long reported inventory would take to sell if the recent sales pace continued. It is a relationship between stock on hand and a recent rate of sales, not a count of annual sales and not a promise that each individual vehicle will remain unsold for that exact number of days.

The contrast between the Audi S6 and Nissan Murano shows why the measure is not simply a ranking by inventory size or sales volume. The S6 led with 653 listed vehicles and 61 sales in the prior 45 days. The Murano had the largest inventory in the table, 20,602, but also the most recent sales, 3,957.
Does slowest-selling mean these cars had the lowest sales?
No. This ranking orders models by reported days of supply, not by lowest calendar-year sales. A model can have more recent sales than another and still rank higher if its inventory is large relative to that sales pace. The figures cover the preceding 45 days in Motor1’s August 2025 report; they do not establish total 2025 sales.

What kinds of vehicles made the list?
The ten entries span several vehicle types rather than one common category. The ranking includes luxury sedans, SUVs, a heavy-duty pickup and four electric vehicles: the Volkswagen ID.4, Audi Q4 e-tron, Porsche Taycan and Kia EV6. Their presence does not establish that a particular vehicle type or powertrain caused a model’s position.
Inventory and recent sales can be affected by factors such as production, shipments, trim mix, geography, model-year transitions and incentives. The reported ranking does not isolate those factors or explain why a specific model had its result.

Does a slow-selling label mean a car is cheaper?
Not necessarily. A large supply may give a shopper more examples to compare, but the ranking does not report current local prices, incentives or verified discounts. Check live dealer listings and compare the full transaction terms before treating a slow-seller label as evidence of savings.

Rankings can use different dates, geographies, eligible vehicles and definitions of selling speed, so their positions are not directly interchangeable. For example, iSeeCars’ separate slow-selling study uses its own days-to-sell treatment and a sample of more than 224,000 new and used vehicles sold in June. That study is a different measurement, not confirmation of CarEdge’s August snapshot.
