Toyota’s upcoming U.S. lineup is more interesting than its current list of lightly revised crossovers. The 2027 Highlander BEV could become the brand’s first genuinely long-range, three-row electric family SUV, while the 2026 GRMN Corolla is shaping up to be an extremely limited performance collectible. Toyota’s GR GT promises a new V8-powered flagship, although it remains under development.
One important distinction matters: not every Toyota generating headlines is a confirmed future U.S. model. The Land Cruiser FJ is already a production vehicle in Japan, but Toyota has not announced it for North America. Likewise, the Celica, MR2, and a solid-state-battery Toyota remain unconfirmed for production and should not be treated as scheduled purchases.

1. 2027 Toyota Highlander BEV

The all-electric Highlander is the future Toyota with the broadest appeal. Toyota is targeting a range of up to 320 miles in the all-wheel-drive version equipped with its 95.8-kWh battery. That figure is still a development target, not a final EPA certification, but it would put the Highlander BEV in a much more useful position for family road trips than Toyota’s earlier electric offerings.
The SUV is intended to retain the practical shape buyers expect from a Highlander while adding battery-electric operation and three-row seating. Toyota also lists battery preconditioning and an approximate 30-minute 10-to-80-percent fast-charge target under specific cold-weather testing conditions with a 150-kW charger. Real-world charging time will depend on temperature, battery state of charge, charger output, and the vehicle’s final production calibration.
Another useful feature is vehicle-to-load capability. That allows the Highlander BEV to provide electricity to selected external equipment, which could be useful at a campsite, during a power outage, or when running small tools away from a conventional outlet.
Toyota plans to build the model at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky. It is expected to become the company’s fourth North American-built or marketed BEV after the bZ, C-HR, and bZ Woodland.
Why it is worth waiting for
Toyota currently lacks an electric SUV that combines three-row family utility with a claimed range above 300 miles. If the production vehicle stays close to Toyota’s targets, the Highlander BEV could fill that gap without forcing buyers into a much larger luxury SUV.
What is still unknown
Toyota had not released final U.S. pricing or complete EPA figures by the research cutoff. The 320-mile estimate should therefore be treated as a target rather than a guaranteed result. Buyers should also wait for cargo measurements, third-row space, towing specifications, and real-world charging tests before comparing it directly with established electric SUVs.

2. 2026 Toyota GRMN Corolla
Expected U.S. arrival: Late summer 2026
U.S. starting MSRP: $64,360
Global production: 730 units
The GRMN Corolla is not a normal upgrade to the GR Corolla. Toyota is building only 730 examples worldwide, making this a limited-production performance special rather than an easier-to-find alternative to the regular GR Corolla.
Toyota’s official U.S. material lists 302 lb-ft of torque. The car receives motorsport-influenced aerodynamic parts, additional chassis reinforcement, a cool-air duct, an intercooler-spray system, dedicated seats, and a more focused cockpit. Exclusive Zero Gravity and Gravel paint colors further separate it from the standard car.
Ownership also includes more than hardware. Toyota says buyers receive a one-year driving-program membership and expert performance-driving instruction. That is unusually relevant for a car designed to be used aggressively on a track rather than simply displayed in a garage.
Why it is worth waiting for
This is the most extreme factory-built Corolla Toyota has officially announced for the U.S. It combines a high-output turbocharged powertrain with chassis, cooling, aerodynamic, and driver-focused changes that go well beyond a cosmetic special edition.
The problem for buyers
The $64,360 starting price is already far above a regular GR Corolla, and limited production makes dealer pricing difficult to predict. A buyer should not assume that a nearby Toyota dealer will receive one or sell it at MSRP. Availability may be decided by allocation, reservation policies, and dealer markups rather than ordinary ordering.

3. Toyota GR GT
Expected development target: Around 2027
Current status: Under-development prototype
Layout: Front engine, rear-wheel drive
The GR GT is the most exciting name on this list, but it is also the one furthest from being a conventional buying recommendation. Toyota has shown a road-legal prototype and says development is continuing toward a launch around 2027. Final specifications, pricing, and delivery timing have not been announced.
Toyota’s current targets are ambitious: a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, a single-motor hybrid system, an eight-speed automatic transmission, at least 650 PS and 850 Nm of system output, and a top speed of at least 320 km/h—approximately 199 mph.
The engineering is equally serious. Toyota is targeting an all-aluminum body frame, a rear transaxle, selected carbon-fiber-reinforced-plastic body panels, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a curb weight of 1,750 kilograms or less. The rear-transaxle arrangement should help weight distribution, while the hybrid motor can add immediate torque and support performance under acceleration.
Why it is worth waiting for
The GR GT is not simply a new trim level for the Supra. Toyota positions it as a new GR flagship carrying the spirit of cars such as the 2000GT and Lexus LFA. If the final car remains close to the prototype targets, it could give Toyota a proper high-end sports car with a distinct identity rather than another shared-platform coupe.
Why patience is essential
Every major number is still a development target. Toyota has not confirmed U.S. pricing, final production specifications, a firm delivery schedule, or whether the GR GT name will remain unchanged. Potential buyers should view it as a model to follow, not a car they can confidently reserve or budget for yet.

Toyota launched it in Japan with a ladder-frame platform, a naturally aspirated 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, a six-speed Super ECT automatic transmission, part-time four-wheel drive, and seating for five.
At 4,575 millimeters long and 1,855 millimeters wide, the FJ is noticeably smaller than the Land Cruiser 250. That smaller footprint could make it appealing to buyers who want a rugged SUV with easier urban maneuverability instead of the size and price of a full-size off-roader.
However, it would be misleading to present the FJ as a confirmed future Toyota for American buyers. Toyota’s cited announcements do not establish U.S. availability, North American specifications, or a U.S. launch date.
Why it is worth watching
The FJ offers the combination many enthusiasts have been asking for: a relatively compact body, body-on-frame construction, and genuine four-wheel-drive hardware. If Toyota brings it to the U.S., it could sit beneath the Land Cruiser 250 as a smaller, more approachable alternative.

There is no confirmed U.S. model to order. Importing one would involve regulatory, warranty, parts, and service complications, so American shoppers should wait for an official North American announcement rather than assume the Japanese-market vehicle will arrive unchanged.
