The ADO Air Carbon is not the lightest folding e-bike in the comparison reported by New Atlas in 2024: that article listed two Hummingbird models at 10.3 kg and the Yikebike Model C at 11.4 kg, versus 12.5 kg for the ADO. The ADO’s appeal was its lower price relative to those rivals, but the available comparison does not give their prices, so it cannot support an exact savings figure. ADO’s current product listing also gives the Air Carbon a higher weight than the 2024 article did.
How light is the ADO Air Carbon?
New Atlas reported the ADO Air Carbon at 12.5 kg in its 2024 article. The same article’s indexed result named the Hummingbird Flax and Hummingbird Electric at 10.3 kg each, and the Yikebike Model C at 11.4 kg. Those are figures reported by that 2024 comparison, not fresh measurements made on a common basis.
ADO’s current official Air Carbon listing, retrieved October 5, 2026, specifies 14+ kg net without accessories and 14.5+ kg including accessories. The listing does not explain the difference from the 12.5 kg figure reported in 2024. Because the figures come from different dates and the listing distinguishes accessory inclusion, they should not be treated as directly equivalent or combined into one definitive weight.
Is it the world’s lightest folding e-bike?
The documented figures do not make the Air Carbon the lightest of the models named in the 2024 comparison: both Hummingbird models and the Yikebike Model C are lighter by their reported figures. They also do not establish which folding e-bike is lightest worldwide today. The comparisons are limited to named products and reported specifications; there is no common-method independent weighing or comprehensive current market ranking in the available evidence.

Other vendor-published figures show why a broader ranking needs care. CARBO’s official site lists its Model X at 13.3 kg and Model S at 15.3 kg, with different belt and chain configurations. These are manufacturer specifications, not an independent comparison with the ADO. See CARBO Electric Bike.
How much cheaper is it?
ADO’s UK product listing shows a price of £1,999, while its euro collection listing shows €1,999; both were retrieved October 5, 2026. These are region-specific listing prices, not a currency conversion, and prices can vary by country, taxes, shipping, and date. The 2024 New Atlas framing described the ADO as much cheaper than the lighter rivals, but the indexed result available here does not provide those rivals’ prices. There is therefore no supported amount or percentage by which it is cheaper today.

For a meaningful price comparison, check current listings in the same market and compare complete-bike prices, included equipment, warranty, and configuration. A headline comparison from 2024 should not be read as a current quote or a quantified saving.

ADO describes the Air Carbon as a folding bike with a carbon-fiber frame and fork, Bafang motor, torque sensor, carbon belt drive, and hydraulic disc brakes. Its listing specifies 250 W marked power, a 36 V/9.6 Ah battery, a maximum speed of 25 km/h, and a maximum range of up to 100 km. These are manufacturer specifications; the stated range is a maximum claim, not an independently tested real-world result.

What to check before choosing a lightweight folding e-bike
- Weight basis: Confirm whether a number covers the complete bike, whether the battery is included, and whether accessories are excluded.
- Price and market: Compare prices from the same country and date, including any relevant delivery charges and taxes.
- How it rides: Compare motor and sensor setup, gearing or single-speed design, and drive type rather than treating weight as the only measure of usability.
- Range claim: Look for the conditions behind any range figure; a manufacturer’s maximum is not a guarantee for every rider or route.
- Carrying and storage: Check folded dimensions and how the complete bike feels to lift. A low listed weight alone does not establish how easy it is to carry.
- Support: Check the warranty and the availability of compatible replacement parts for the exact model and market.
