CVO Road Glide ST: race-inspired performance in a bagger format
Harley-Davidson says the 2025 U.S. CVO Road Glide ST is inspired by its MotoAmerica King of the Baggers race motorcycles. Its 121-cubic-inch Milwaukee-Eight 121 is rated at 127 hp and 145 ft-lb, and the company described it as its most powerful production motorcycle engine at the time of the model page. The maker also lists adjustable SHOWA suspension, Brembo brakes, carbon-fiber details, and Track and Track + ride modes.
That combination makes the CVO Road Glide ST a standout for power and track-influenced equipment. It remains a bagger, though, so its sporting character should not be read as proof that it out-handles or outpaces a lighter roadster.

Sportster S: a roadster with liquid-cooled performance hardware

V-Rod: a high-output historical reference
Harley-Davidson’s 2016 press kit gives the V-Rod family a 125-horsepower figure. Because that is a period, family-level statement, it should not be assigned to every V-Rod variant or treated as a direct comparison with current model-page specifications. It is still an important historical reference among the high-output Harleys in this selection.

Harley-Davidson’s 2018 U.S. press release reports up to 119 ft-lb at 3,500 rpm for the FXDR 114 and emphasizes its performance intent on the Softail chassis. The number is torque, not horsepower, and does not establish a top speed. The FXDR belongs in a sportiness discussion because of the maker’s stated design emphasis, not because this figure proves it is faster than the other motorcycles here.
XR1200: a radical branch of the Sportster line
Harley-Davidson’s Sportster history calls the XR1200 “one of the more radical Sportster motorcycles of all-time.” That is a useful manufacturer characterization of its design place in the family, not a measured performance result. The cited history does not provide a comparable horsepower, weight, or braking specification for this selection.

Harley-Davidson’s 2021 press material calls the Street Bob 114 the lightest Softail with a Milwaukee-Eight 114 and says it accelerates faster than the previous Street Bob with the 107 engine. The cited material does not give a horsepower or torque number for this entry, so the acceleration statement should remain attributed to the manufacturer rather than converted into an unsupported performance ranking.
Fat Bob 114: braking and front-end hardware stand out
Harley-Davidson’s 2021 material highlights the Fat Bob 114’s inverted forks, dual front discs, and performance exhaust. Those are concrete reasons to include it among sport-oriented Softails, even though the cited information does not establish a comparable output figure or independent handling result. The company called it a “burly street-eating muscle machine”; that is promotional language, not a test verdict.

There is no universal winner established by these sources. If the yardstick is the highest current horsepower figure among the cited U.S. model pages, the 2025 CVO Road Glide ST leads at 127 hp, ahead of the 2026 Sportster S at 121 hp. That is a narrow comparison between two specified model pages, not an all-time result. The historical V-Rod family’s 125-horsepower figure is from 2016 and is not tied here to one exact variant.
Nor do these figures settle which Harley-Davidson is fastest. A verified top-speed comparison would require comparable measured results under stated conditions; no such all-time dataset is established here. A rider choosing between these bikes should first decide whether “sportiest” means a race-inspired bagger, a roadster with modern rider aids, cornering-focused Softail changes, or a historical high-output model.
