Some street-legal motorcycles can make a credible track-day choice, but there is no evidence-backed, current-market top 10 that applies everywhere. The candidates below range from road-focused sport bikes to committed supersports; their suitability depends on your country, model year, and priorities. The available specifications support a useful shortlist, not a lap-time ranking or confirmation that every model is currently sold new and road legal in your market.

What makes a street bike good for track days?

For this shortlist, “track-capable” means a motorcycle has a relevant combination of road-and-track intent, chassis and braking equipment, tyres, rider aids, or a documented competition connection. It does not mean every bike is equally focused, nor that a manufacturer’s performance claims have been independently verified.

A road-focused sport or naked bike can be a less circuit-committed option; a supersport typically puts more emphasis on track use. Neither category alone establishes which is faster or more comfortable. Compare the exact model year and local specification, then consider whether its ergonomics, engine character, suspension, brakes, tyres, and electronics suit your intended riding.

Ten candidates, with important availability caveats

The list includes model families and closely related variants rather than ten independently verified new-bike recommendations. Manufacturer specifications below are tied to the cited material; the FIM entries establish competition homologation relevance only. Check local road approval and availability before treating any candidate as a purchase option.

#1 Best Overall
HHH 250cc Street Bike GTX 250 EFI Motorcycle Fuel Injection Manual 6 Speed for Adult and Youth (Blue)
  • Entry-Level Sport Bike Design: The HHH Upgraded 250cc Motorcycle GTX 250 with EFI features a 6 speed manual transmission, hydraulic disc brakes (dual front), and 17-inch wheels with street tires
  • Altitude Adaptability with EFI: Electronic Fuel Injection automatically compensates for changes in altitude by sensing air temperature and density, eliminating the need to manually adjust carburetors jetting at different elevations
  • Enhanced Throttle Response: By delivering fuel directly into the combustion chamber in response to the rider's input, the EFI system eliminates throttle lag associated with carburetors, resulting in smoother and more instantaneous acceleration with dual front headlights and sporty styling
  • Zongshen Engine with EFI Technology: HHH GTX 250 is powered by a Zongshen-brand engine and uses electronic fuel injection for better performance and fuel economy with high power output
  • Easier Starting System: The EFI system optimizes fuel delivery for ambient conditions, ensuring reliable and easy engine starts, especially in cold weather, without the need for a manual choke
Candidate Road/track positioning and engine Equipment documented in the cited source Competition or availability qualification
Aprilia RS 660 Aprilia positions it for road and track use; its product page describes a twin-cylinder engine and functional aerodynamics. APRC electronics are cited by Aprilia. The page describes the engine as Euro 5+; confirm applicability to the model year and market you are considering. Manufacturer positioning, not an independent performance comparison. See Aprilia.
Triumph Street Triple 765 RS The 2023 range material presents the RS as a road-usable naked sport bike with track-oriented equipment. Triumph lists 130 PS and 80 Nm peak torque for the 2023 RS, adjustable suspension, Brembo Stylema front brakes, and standard Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tyres described as road legal with racetrack-level grip. These are 2023 specifications, not a guarantee of current-year or local-market equipment. See Triumph’s 2023 range material.
Triumph Street Triple 765 Moto2 Edition Triumph describes this 2023 variant as the most focused, track-oriented Street Triple in the range. The 2023 material lists 130 PS and 80 Nm, clip-ons, Öhlins suspension, and standard Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tyres. Triumph identified it as a limited edition; do not assume broad current availability. See Triumph’s 2023 range material.
Ducati Panigale V2 Ducati describes track performance alongside road-and-track ergonomics. The product page lists cornering ABS, traction and wheelie control, and a quickshifter. It describes Marzocchi/Kayaba suspension as standard and Öhlins suspension on the V2 S. Product range and specification can vary by market and model year. See Ducati.
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R Kawasaki’s European 2027 page describes a supersport with race-based engine and chassis performance optimized for the street. The page identifies traction control, brake management, power modes, and a quickshifter. The cited page is specifically European and for 2027; local specification, sales status, and road approval may differ. See Kawasaki’s European page.
Honda CBR600RR Included here for its documented competition connection; the available citation does not establish current retail or road specification. Not stated in the cited source. Listed in the FIM’s 2024 Supersport 600 / Next Generation homologation document. This does not prove present-day retail availability or street legality. See FIM’s 2024 list.
Suzuki GSX-R600 Included as a competition-linked candidate, not a confirmed new-bike recommendation. Not stated in the cited source. Listed in the FIM’s 2024 homologation document; confirm local market availability and road approval. See FIM’s 2024 list.
Suzuki GSX-R750 Included as a competition-linked candidate, not a confirmed new-bike recommendation. Not stated in the cited source. Listed in the FIM’s 2024 homologation document; confirm local market availability and road approval. See FIM’s 2024 list.
Yamaha YZF-R6 Included as a competition-linked candidate; the cited listing does not establish its current retail situation. Not stated in the cited source. Listed in the FIM’s 2024 homologation document. Homologation does not settle whether a given model year is sold new locally or its road specification. See FIM’s 2024 list.
Yamaha YZF-R7 Included as a competition-linked candidate; do not infer that its retail status or specification matches the R6. Not stated in the cited source. Listed in the FIM’s 2024 homologation document. Check local sales status and road approval separately. See FIM’s 2024 list.
MV Agusta F3 family The F3 800 RR and F3 Superveloce variants are the family entries identified in the cited competition document. Not stated in the cited source. Listed in the FIM’s 2024 homologation document. Confirm current model status, naming, and road approval with MV Agusta for your market. See FIM’s 2024 list.

How to narrow the shortlist

If you want a road-focused starting point

The Aprilia RS 660 is explicitly positioned by its maker for road and track use. The 2023 Triumph Street Triple RS is a naked alternative with a documented combination of adjustable suspension, Brembo Stylema brakes, and road-legal Supercorsa SP V3 tyres. These are different layouts and model-year evidence; the cited sources do not establish a direct comfort or speed comparison.

If you want a more circuit-focused package

The Triumph Moto2 Edition is described as the range’s most track-oriented variant, with clip-ons and Öhlins suspension in the 2023 material, but its limited-edition status matters if you are shopping. Ducati’s Panigale V2 pairs track-performance positioning with road-and-track ergonomics and a substantial electronics list. Kawasaki’s cited ZX-6R page is explicitly for the European 2027 model, so it should not be used to assume specifications elsewhere.

If competition connection matters most

The FIM 2024 homologation list includes the Honda CBR600RR, Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R750, Yamaha YZF-R6 and YZF-R7, and MV Agusta F3 800 RR and F3 Superveloce variants. Homologation is evidence of competition relevance under that document; it is not proof that a bike is currently sold new, road legal, or available in a particular country. The FIM document states an eight-year validity period for homologation; that period is not a prediction of retail lifespan.

Can you ride a sport bike on the street and take it to the track?

Yes, if the specific motorcycle is road-approved where you live and the event accepts it. Before booking, verify the bike’s registration and insurance requirements, the track’s noise and technical rules, and whether your tyres and equipment meet the organiser’s conditions. For a road-to-track day, check the motorcycle’s condition and adjust tyre pressures and suspension only in line with the tyre maker’s and event’s guidance. None of the cited product pages establishes a universal track-day setup.
