Ringbrothers’ INVADR is a heavily re-engineered 1987 Buick Grand National that keeps the car’s turbocharged V6 identity while pairing it with a custom chassis, a six-speed manual and a builder-reported 1,246 hp at the rear wheels. That figure applies to the car’s current E85 tune at 32 psi of boost; Ringbrothers separately says the engine is capable of up to 2,000 hp at 50 psi. The build was unveiled in November 2024, but the available coverage does not document a measured drag-strip pass.
What is the Ringbrothers INVADR?
INVADR is Ringbrothers’ restomod interpretation of a 1987 Buick Grand National. Rather than swapping in a V8, the build retains the Grand National’s turbocharged 3.8-liter Buick V6 concept and extensively reworks the engine, drivetrain, chassis, body and cabin. Ringbrothers unveiled the car in November 2024.
The result preserves the recognizable Grand National silhouette but is far from a stock restoration. Its powertrain and supporting hardware are built around high output, while fabrication updates the car’s structure, suspension, brakes and interior.
How much horsepower does INVADR make?
Ringbrothers reports 1,246 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels on the car’s current tune, which runs on E85 with 32 psi of boost. The builder separately says the engine is capable of producing up to 2,000 hp at 50 psi. That higher figure is a stated capability at increased boost, not the reported current output or a verified track result. The figures are builder claims; the available sources do not provide independent dyno data.

A rebuilt 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6
Duttweiler Performance rebuilt the 3.8-liter V6 as an all-aluminum engine with six-bolt mains and twin Precision 62-mm turbochargers. The described custom components include hand-ported aluminum cylinder heads, a billet Bryant Racing crankshaft and a bespoke intake manifold. Keeping a turbocharged Buick V6 at the center of the build connects INVADR to the original Grand National formula even as the engine itself is extensively reworked.
How are the power and chassis set up?
A Bowler TREMEC T-56 Magnum six-speed manual sends power through a carbon-fiber drag-race driveshaft. The drivetrain is mounted in a custom Roadster Shop chassis with a four-link rear suspension. Ringbrothers also lists Penske three-way adjustable shocks at all four corners.

What changed on the body and inside?
The bodywork keeps the factory hood but adds a Ringbrothers carbon-fiber scoop. The original plastic bumpers were fabricated in stainless steel and fitted with machined aluminum bumper guards; Ringbrothers also adjusted the front fender angle and extended the rocker panels. The custom BASF Glasurit waterborne paint is named “Dark Vader Gray.”
Inside, Upholstery Unlimited made the seats, dashboard and center console. Dakota Digital supplied custom instrumentation, while reconfigured floor pans and a Ringbrothers carbon-fiber steering wheel add to the cabin’s custom fabrication.

Has INVADR run at the drag strip?
The available coverage does not establish a drag-strip pass, quarter-mile time or independently documented performance result. Mike Ring, Ringbrothers co-owner, described the acceleration as “nothing short of violent” and said, “This may well be the fastest car we’ve built to date.” Those are the builder’s assessments, not substitutes for an elapsed time or a documented run.
Ringbrothers says the build took 5,000 hours. Street Machine’s specification table gives a different total of 4,900 hours; the builder’s own announcement is the source for the 5,000-hour figure.
