Bad Chad Customs follows Nova Scotia builder Chad Hiltz, known as “Bad Chad,” as he and his team transform old vehicles and salvaged material into one-off creations. The television series aired two seasons, but a planned third season was halted during the pandemic. Hiltz and his partner, Jolene MacIntyre, then built a publishing business around videos they release themselves. The show’s future is not established by the available sources.
Who is Bad Chad?
“Bad Chad” is Chad Hiltz, a custom-car builder from Nova Scotia. Discovery’s profile describes him as someone who built his shop by hand and made one-off cars with basic tools and ingenuity. The network’s series description emphasizes his use of scrap and junkyard metal rather than a conventional, pristine workshop or a standard parts list. (Discovery’s show page; Discovery’s profile)

The appeal is the transformation: Hiltz and his team start with vehicles or materials that need substantial work and shape them into distinctive builds. The official gallery shows projects including a Pinto, a motorcycle, a dump truck, and a Cadillac, alongside processes such as welding, sawing, sanding, painting, and bodywork. Those images document the builds; they do not establish that a vehicle is road-legal or independently tested. (Discovery’s photo gallery)
What was the TV show about?
Warner Bros. Discovery announced Bad Chad Customs on October 31, 2018, with a January 1 premiere on Discovery Channel and Love Productions named as the producer. The network’s initial framing centered on Hiltz’s hand-built rural shop, resourcefulness, and ability to turn reused parts into custom cars. (Warner Bros. Discovery’s announcement)

Episode descriptions give a sense of the range of projects. Discovery UK and Foxtel list an elegant coupe based on a rusted 1939 Studebaker Commander and a delivery truck project built from a discarded 1934 Desoto Airflow. Discovery’s gallery also shows different kinds of transformations, from a Pinto customization to a dump truck built around a 1934 Oldsmobile sedan. (Discovery UK episode summaries; Foxtel listing)
How many seasons aired, and why did the show stop?
A Journal Pioneer report published April 24, 2025, says the first season aired internationally in 2019 and the second in 2020. It reports that production of a planned third season stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic. After the delay, Hiltz and MacIntyre chose to pursue their own publishing path. (Journal Pioneer, April 24, 2025)
That account explains why the television run did not continue as planned; it does not establish that the series can never return. No future-season announcement is established in the cited sources.

The Journal Pioneer describes their online output as a shift toward regular, longer-form video on YouTube and shorter videos on Facebook. It says the online material shows more of the build process than the more condensed television episodes. That makes the formats different: the TV show packaged a build for an episode, while their own videos give viewers a more direct view of the work as it unfolds. (Journal Pioneer, April 24, 2025)
In that report, MacIntyre described the online business as drawing up to 100,000 viewers for a daily YouTube video, about 1.6 million Facebook followers, and roughly 70 million combined views per month. She also put annual revenue at about $2 million. These are figures she reported in April 2025, not independently audited measurements or confirmed 2026 totals. Hiltz described the transition as having “turned a TV proposition into a multi-million-dollar YouTube channel,” while MacIntyre characterized the videos as raw and authentic.
