The quickest car in CarBuzz’s 2024 testing that can be confirmed from the available reporting is the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, which reached 60 mph in 2.68 seconds. That time comes from CarBuzz’s own 2024 test as reported in a syndicated excerpt. It is CarBuzz’s measurement, not a Mercedes-AMG claim, and it is not a universal benchmark for that car.
What the ranking covers
- The list ranks vehicles CarBuzz tested in 2024. It is not a ranking of every car sold or launched that year.
- The article’s description puts 45 vehicles in the ranking, spanning sedans, crossovers, sports cars, supercars and trucks.
- Acceleration was measured with a RaceBox data recorder, a GPS performance data recorder that logs speed and elapsed time during a run.

Treat that as the headline figure for this article. The complete ordering behind it, and the times for every other car on the list, are not reproduced here, so check the original CarBuzz ranking before drawing conclusions about any car below the top spot.
Why 0–60 times depend on the test method
A 0–60 mph time is a standing-start result, and the number you see depends on how the car was launched. Car and Driver’s May 12, 2024 article, “Tested: The Most and Least Responsive Powertrains,” explains its own procedure: its published 60-mph time is logged from a standing start using launch control or the tester’s best effort. Its 5–60 mph run begins with the car already rolling at 5 mph, which the magazine intends as a closer match to real-world acceleration without a launch.
The magazine’s editorial staff puts the consequence this way: “The fact that the 5-to-60-mph run is typically slower explains why some cars might not feel quite as rapid in daily driving as the oft-quoted 60-mph number might suggest.”

That is Car and Driver’s description of its own method. Nothing in the available reporting shows that CarBuzz used the same launch or rolling procedure, so the 2.68-second figure should not be read as comparable to Car and Driver’s numbers.
How to read a 0–60 ranking
- Find the test method in the original article. If it does not describe the launch technique, the times cannot be fully interpreted.
- Compare only cars tested the same way, on the same kind of run. A standing-start time and a rolling time answer different questions.
- Check the configuration named for each car, including the trim and drivetrain, because the same model name can cover several versions with different output.
- Be cautious about small gaps between neighbouring cars. Launch conditions can account for a difference of a few tenths of a second as much as the cars themselves.
What this article does not establish
- The full 45-car order and the time for each car.
- The launch technique, surface, weather and number of runs CarBuzz used for each vehicle.
- Any comparison with times from other publications, which were measured under different protocols.
