Yes, the GFG Style Peralta S can make the Tesla Cybertruck look shamefully ordinary—but the victory is one of design, craftsmanship, and exclusivity, not utility or measured performance.
Tesla turned exposed stainless steel into the defining feature of a production electric pickup. GFG Style turned exposed, mirror-polished aluminum into a hand-built mid-engine sculpture. One is designed to haul, tow, carry five people, and supply electrical power; the other was commissioned as a single, intensely personal expression of 1970s wedge-car fantasy.

That makes the comparison visually compelling, but technically uneven. The Peralta S is not a production rival to the Cybertruck, and there is no independent road test proving that it is faster, safer, or better to drive. Its strongest advantage is that it looks like the concept car the Cybertruck sometimes seems to be reaching for.

GFG Style unveiled the Peralta S at the Pastejé Automotive Invitational in Mexico on March 22, 2025. The company describes it as its first one-off vehicle, designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro and commissioned by Mexican collector Carlos Peralta and his sons, Juan Carlos and Nicolas.

That description matters. The Peralta S is not a new model line, an upcoming showroom car, or a limited production run. It is a privately commissioned object built by hand for one client. The Tesla Cybertruck, by contrast, is a production vehicle intended to serve as an electric utility pickup.
So the headline’s “puts the Tesla Cybertruck to shame” claim should be read as a styling judgment. In terms of rarity, visual drama, and the coherence of its design idea, the Peralta S has an overwhelming advantage. In terms of seating, cargo space, towing, range, and everyday usefulness, the comparison quickly swings back toward Tesla.
Why the Peralta S looks so much more resolved
The Peralta S is built around a deliberately simple visual idea: a seamless, metallic wedge that appears to have been carved from one continuous surface.

Its glazing and bodywork were designed to create a monolithic effect, with three principal sections forming the visible envelope:
- a front hood;
- a mirrored-glass central section; and
- a rear section.
The front spoiler, rear diffuser, and side sills are exposed carbon fiber, providing a darker contrast to the polished aluminum. Rather than interrupting the profile with conventional door cuts, the car uses a single lifting dome for access. Its side windows open independently in a gullwing movement.
That arrangement is impractical in the ordinary sense, but practicality was not the brief. The single canopy lets the Peralta S preserve its clean side profile and reinforces the impression that the passenger compartment is a glass-covered cockpit rather than a conventional cabin.
GFG also describes an integrated rear spoiler that rises into position, hidden taillights, and upper and lower elements that open to assist ventilation when the car is switched on. These details give the car a sense of movement even when it is standing still. The mechanical hardware is packaged behind a piece of sculpture.
The Maserati Boomerang is the key to the design
The Peralta S is best understood as a modern reinterpretation of the Maserati Boomerang, the angular 1971 concept car designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Fabrizio Giugiaro’s work is explicitly presented as a tribute to his father and to the Boomerang’s wedge-shaped volumes.
This is more than a historical footnote. The Boomerang connection explains why the Peralta S feels so different from a merely aggressive modern supercar. Its design language comes from the era when concept cars were often defined by flat planes, dramatic wedges, concealed lighting, canopy-like glass, and an almost architectural approach to volume.

The Peralta S updates that language with modern materials and active aerodynamic elements, but it does not abandon the original fantasy. Its continuous polished surfaces, hidden lamps, exposed structure, and canopy access all support the same retro-futurist idea: a road car that looks like a machine from an imagined future.
The Cybertruck shares some of that angular vocabulary, which is why the comparison works at first glance. Both vehicles reject the rounded, heavily sculpted forms common in contemporary cars. Both use visible metal as part of their identity. Both seem to have been designed around a strong geometric statement rather than softened for conventional expectations.
But the Peralta S is the more carefully controlled expression of that idea. Its wedge shape is supported by its proportions, canopy, body construction, hidden lighting, and mid-engine layout. The Cybertruck’s geometry has to coexist with a pickup bed, a tall cabin, large glass areas, cargo access, towing requirements, production constraints, and electric-vehicle packaging. The result is inevitably more functional and less like a pure design exercise.
The Peralta S is based on Maserati MC20 hardware
Under the special bodywork, the Peralta S uses a chassis and mechanical package derived from the Maserati MC20. GFG Style says the MC20’s technical characteristics remained unchanged, with technical collaboration from MAT—Manifattura Automobili Torino.
The relevant donor-car specifications are substantial. Maserati’s U.S. specifications for the MC20 list a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 producing 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels. Maserati quotes a 0–60 mph time of 2.9 seconds, a 202-mph top speed, and a curb weight below 3,620 pounds. Maserati’s global specifications express the output as 630 hp, a top speed above 325 km/h, and 0–100 km/h in less than 2.9 seconds.
Those numbers need a precise label: they are MC20 donor-car specifications, not independently tested Peralta S results. GFG’s statement that the MC20 technical characteristics remain unchanged makes the figures relevant context, but no independent instrumented test of the one-off Peralta S was identified.
It is therefore accurate to call the car “MC20-derived” or to say that GFG retained the MC20’s technical characteristics. It is not accurate to present a verified Peralta S acceleration or top-speed test that does not exist. Nor should the car be called an official Maserati. Maserati supplied the mechanical basis; GFG Style designed and developed the one-off vehicle for its private commissioner.
The Cybertruck is not trying to be the same kind of object
Tesla’s exposed metal serves a different purpose. The company describes the Cybertruck’s ultra-hard stainless-steel exoskeleton as a way to reduce dents, damage, and corrosion. Tesla technical material also describes the exterior as a structural full-hard stainless-steel exoskeleton.
That makes the Cybertruck’s metal skin an engineering and utility solution as much as a styling decision. The sharp surfaces are part of a vehicle that must carry loads, tow trailers, accommodate passengers, withstand regular use, and be manufactured in meaningful numbers.

The Peralta S’s polished aluminum body serves a more sculptural purpose. The aluminum is not being presented as a pickup-truck exoskeleton or as a substitute for a cargo box. Its job is to create a continuous, reflective surface and turn the entire car into a visual event.

Tesla’s truck is visually uncompromising for a utility vehicle. GFG’s car has the luxury of being uncompromising because it is a one-off collector commission with no requirement to meet the practical expectations of a pickup.
Does the Peralta S beat the Cybertruck in performance?
There is no defensible blanket answer, and the available figures actually show why.
The MC20 hardware gives the Peralta S a credible supercar foundation: mid-engine layout, rear-wheel drive, a twin-turbo V6, and the donor car’s quoted 2.9-second 0–60 mph time. But that remains an inference from the MC20’s published specifications rather than a Peralta-specific test result.
Tesla lists the Cyberbeast version of the Cybertruck at 2.6 seconds from 0–60 mph, a figure quicker than the Maserati MC20’s U.S. claim. Tesla also lists a 130-mph top speed for the Cyberbeast. The Cybertruck figures are manufacturer claims for a different vehicle category, and they should not be treated as a controlled comparison with an untested one-off car.

That fact alone does not make it a better sports car, just as the Peralta S’s mid-engine layout does not prove superior handling. No independent Peralta S track test, braking test, handling comparison, fuel-consumption result, or safety assessment was found in the available research.
The honest conclusion is narrower and more useful: the Peralta S has MC20-derived performance hardware, while the Cybertruck can deliver startling electric acceleration. Neither vehicle can be declared the overall performance winner from the available evidence.
Where the Cybertruck clearly wins
If the question changes from “Which one is more spectacular?” to “Which one can I actually use?”, Tesla has the advantage by a wide margin.
| Category | Peralta S | Tesla Cybertruck |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle type | One-off, hand-built mid-engine sports car | Production electric utility pickup |
| Powertrain basis | Maserati MC20-derived chassis and mechanics | Battery-electric Tesla pickup platform |
| Seating and cargo | Not presented as a utility vehicle; detailed capacity was not published | Five seats and up to 120.7 cubic feet of cargo space, according to Tesla’s U.S. specifications |
| Towing | No published towing role or rating | Up to 11,000 pounds for the listed configuration |
| Range | No published electric range; it is not an electric vehicle | Up to 320 miles of estimated range for the Cyberbeast listing |
| Top speed | No independent Peralta S result; MC20 donor context is 202 mph | 130 mph for the Cyberbeast listing |
| Availability | One privately commissioned example | Production vehicle, subject to market and configuration availability |
The Tesla is also designed to do things the Peralta cannot reasonably be expected to do: carry bulky objects, tow heavy loads, transport a family, and function as an electric vehicle for regular use. Tesla’s published figures vary by Cybertruck version, so buyers must check the exact configuration rather than applying the Cyberbeast’s acceleration or range figures to every truck.

What the comparison really says about modern car design
The Peralta S and Cybertruck represent two very different ways of making an angular vehicle meaningful.
Tesla uses geometry to communicate toughness, durability, and a break from conventional pickup design. Its stainless-steel exoskeleton is tied directly to the truck’s intended role. The shape is controversial, but it is attached to a functional proposition.
GFG Style uses geometry to communicate rarity and fantasy. The Peralta S is not asking to be a work truck. It is asking the viewer to admire the continuity of its surfaces, the drama of its canopy, the precision of its polished metal, and its connection to a landmark Giugiaro concept.
That distinction is why the Peralta S wins the visual argument for many observers. It takes the exposed-metal wedge idea and removes almost everything that could dilute it. There is no bed, no conventional door arrangement, no need to accommodate a large cargo volume, and no requirement to make the same design work for thousands of customers. It is a concentrated design statement.

Not in the normal sense. GFG Style’s official material identifies the Peralta S as a one-off commissioned for the Peralta family. No production plan, reservation program, public sales listing, or second example was identified in the available research.
That exclusivity is central to the car’s appeal, but it also limits what can responsibly be said about ownership. There are no established public figures here for service intervals, luggage capacity, crash testing, fuel economy, insurance, or road registration. The car should be treated as a collector commission and design object, not as a new supercar shoppers can compare at a dealership.
For enthusiasts interested in the lineage rather than the exact car, the most relevant adjacent subjects are Giorgetto Giugiaro’s automotive design work, the Maserati Boomerang, the Maserati MC20, and the history of Italian concept-car design. A Maserati MC20 scale model would represent the donor car, not a Peralta S replica.
The Peralta S’s public debut
GFG Style announced the Peralta S’s unveiling at the Pastejé Automotive Invitational in Mexico on March 22, 2025. A Monterey Motorsports Festival announcement dated June 24, 2025 said the car was scheduled for its U.S. debut at that event on August 16, 2025.
Those appearances should be described in the past tense. They establish the car’s public-show history, not a production or sales plan.

Verdict: the Peralta S wins the design duel
The Peralta S does not put the Cybertruck to shame in towing, cargo carrying, seating, electric range, production practicality, or verified acceleration. In those categories, the Tesla is the only vehicle of the two designed to compete seriously.
It does, however, expose the difference between a vehicle that uses exposed metal to support a utility mission and one that uses it to create a piece of automotive theater. The Peralta S’s mirror-polished aluminum, canopy access, hidden lighting, carbon-fiber details, and Maserati Boomerang lineage form a much more cohesive wedge-car fantasy than the Cybertruck can deliver as a working pickup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Peralta S faster than the Tesla Cybertruck?
There is no independent Peralta S performance test. Its MC20-derived mechanical package is associated with the Maserati MC20’s published 2.9-second 0–60 mph claim, while Tesla lists 2.6 seconds for the Cyberbeast. Those are manufacturer figures for different vehicles, so they do not establish an overall performance winner.
Is the Peralta S made by Maserati?
No. GFG Style designed and developed the one-off Peralta S for a private collector. Its chassis and mechanics are derived from the Maserati MC20, with technical collaboration from MAT.
How many Peralta S cars will be built?
The available official information identifies the Peralta S as GFG Style’s first one-off vehicle. No production plan, second example, or public sales program was identified.
What inspired the Peralta S?
The car is a modern reinterpretation of the 1971 Maserati Boomerang concept designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Its wedge profile, concealed lighting, canopy, and continuous surfaces deliberately recall that era of Italian concept-car design.
The Bottom Line
The Peralta S wins this comparison as a rare, hand-built design statement—not as an all-purpose technical champion. It is a mirror-polished, MC20-derived wedge car created for one collector; the Cybertruck is a stainless-steel electric pickup engineered for passengers, cargo, towing, and daily utility. The Peralta is more elegant and exclusive. The Tesla is vastly more practical.
