The next Audi RS 5 is no longer sneaking around in camouflage: Audi officially revealed the RS 5 Sedan and RS 5 Avant on February 19, 2026. Both are plug-in hybrids, pairing a twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor, and Audi says the 2026 production run has already sold out.
When will the new Audi RS 5 come out?
Audi announced the RS 5 Sedan and RS 5 Avant on February 19, 2026. On October 7, Audi said 2026 production was sold out and that overseas market launches were beginning, with Australia and New Zealand among the first markets outside Europe. Japan, Korea, Taiwan and other markets were expected to follow. Exact arrival dates and availability depend on the local Audi distributor. Audi’s October 7 update reported European orders at nearly twice the company’s original expectation.

Is the new Audi RS 5 a hybrid?
Yes. The RS 5 is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and Audi describes it as Audi Sport’s first high-performance plug-in hybrid. It combines a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 375 kW (510 PS) with a 130 kW electric motor. Combined system output is 470 kW (639 PS), according to Audi’s February 19 announcement.
Audi says the car can cover more than 80 km in city driving on electric power alone. Separately, an April announcement from Audi France gives up to 84 km of WLTP electric range and a 0–100 km/h time of 3.6 seconds. The 84 km figure is a French-market WLTP claim; it is not interchangeable with Audi’s differently worded city-driving figure. Audi MediaCenter and Audi France Media provide the respective figures.

What is Audi Dynamic Torque Control?
Dynamic Torque Control is Audi’s name for electromechanical torque vectoring at the rear axle, integrated with a new quattro drivetrain. Audi says a preloaded center differential manages torque distribution between the front and rear axles. The company calls the rear-axle system a world first in a production car; that is Audi’s claim, not an independently verified assessment. Audi says the technology is intended to support agile, confident handling, but the specifications available here do not establish how it performs on the road. How does RS 5 charging work?
Audi specifies three-phase AC charging at up to 11 kW and says a full charge takes 2.5 hours. A Mode 3 Type 2 charging cable is standard equipment. Those figures describe Audi’s stated charging capability; actual charging depends on the vehicle, compatible charging equipment, the electrical supply and local installation conditions. Check local requirements before arranging a home charging point. Audi MediaCenter lists the charging details.

Will there be an Audi RS 5 wagon?
Yes. Audi’s second body style is the RS 5 Avant; Avant is the brand’s term for its wagon or estate body style. The Sedan and Avant are both performance flagships in the A5 range. The available specifications confirm the two body styles, but do not provide a complete, like-for-like cargo-capacity comparison.

Prices depend on country, taxes and equipment, so these examples are not direct comparisons. Audi UK listed the RS 5 Avant from £91,300 including VAT on October 8, 2026; its page cautions that displayed models are not necessarily UK specification. Audi France’s April order announcement listed starting prices of €118,000 for the Sedan and €119,500 for the Avant. Check with a local Audi distributor for current prices, specifications and availability. Audi UK’s RS 5 page and Audi France Media give those market-specific examples.
