The clearest 2026 standouts are the Lexus NX, NX Hybrid, UX, TX and RZ in Consumer Reports’ category analysis, plus the Lexus GX in J.D. Power’s dependability awards. Other luxury SUVs earn praise for short-term quality or category dependability, but those findings measure different things and should not be treated as one top-ten list.
What the latest owner evidence actually says
There is no single comparable owner poll here that ranks the 10 most reliable luxury SUVs from first to tenth. The available studies have different samples, time horizons and measures. Consumer Reports estimates future reliability from owners’ reported problems and repairs; J.D. Power’s Vehicle Dependability Study counts problems reported after three years. Neither should be blended with satisfaction or 90-day quality results into a made-up score.
For the clearest current picture, start with the category-specific Consumer Reports standouts and the Lexus GX’s J.D. Power dependability recognition. Treat the additional models below as evidence worth checking, not as positions in a definitive reliability ranking.
Luxury SUVs with the strongest current reliability signals
Lexus NX and NX Hybrid
Consumer Reports named both the NX and NX Hybrid among its 2026 luxury small-SUV reliability leaders. They are separate powertrain choices, so a strong result for one should not automatically be assumed to apply identically to the other. Check ratings for the precise model year and configuration you are considering.

Lexus UX
The UX was also named a 2026 luxury small-SUV category leader by Consumer Reports. J.D. Power separately included the UX among its 2026 model-level dependability award recipients, giving it support across two distinct sources. The two recognitions are not interchangeable scores or a combined rank.
Lexus TX
Consumer Reports identified the TX as a 2026 luxury midsized three-row SUV reliability leader. Its size and three-row layout make it a more useful comparison for shoppers who need additional seating than a small SUV such as the NX or UX.

Lexus RZ
The RZ was named a 2026 luxury electric-SUV reliability leader by Consumer Reports. Because it is electric, compare it with other luxury EVs rather than assuming its result directly predicts the experience of a gasoline or hybrid SUV.
Lexus GX
The GX was a model-level award recipient in J.D. Power’s 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, which examined 2023 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. This is a distinct finding from Consumer Reports’ category leaders and applies to the study’s covered vehicles, not automatically to every GX generation or model year.

Other luxury SUVs with useful, but different, evidence
J.D. Power’s 2025 luxury-SUV guide reports results from multiple study types. Its placements can help identify models to investigate, but several are about initial quality or appeal rather than long-term dependability.

How to read the ratings without mixing unlike measures
Three-year dependability
J.D. Power’s 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study was released February 12, 2026. It used responses from 33,268 original owners of 2023 model-year vehicles, surveyed from December 2024 through November 2025, and covered 184 specific problem areas in nine categories. Its problems-per-100-vehicles (PP100) measure is better when lower. Lexus led premium brands at 151 PP100; Cadillac recorded 175 and Porsche 182. The industry average was 204 PP100. These are brand-level figures, not model-specific SUV scores.

Predicted reliability
Consumer Reports’ 2026 reliable-SUV guide, published February 19, 2026, draws on its Annual Auto Survey covering more than 380,000 vehicles. Its reliability ratings estimate future reliability from owner-reported problems and repairs. Consumer Reports’ broader Overall Score also includes survey satisfaction, crash-test results where available, safety-feature availability and road tests, so Overall Score is not a pure reliability rating. In its 2026 brand analysis, Lexus ranked third for new-car reliability with a score of 60; that is a brand score, not an SUV model rating.
Initial quality and owner satisfaction
J.D. Power’s 2025 Initial Quality Study uses verified owner or lessee feedback after 90 days. It can flag early quality issues, but that short observation window does not establish long-term durability. Owner satisfaction is different again: Consumer Reports asks owners whether, considering factors such as price, performance, reliability, comfort and enjoyment, they would get the car again. A willingness to buy again is valuable context, not a reliability score by itself.

How to choose the right one for your ownership needs
- Match the category first. Compare small SUVs with small SUVs, three-row models with three-row models, and electric vehicles with electric vehicles. A category leader is not necessarily the best fit across different sizes or powertrains.
- Check the exact model year and variant. Look up the specific year, engine or hybrid system, and generation you plan to buy. Brand-level strength does not establish identical durability across every model and powertrain.
- Separate long-term problems from early quality. Give three-year dependability or multi-year predicted-reliability evidence more weight when your main concern is durability; use 90-day initial quality as an early ownership signal.
- Use satisfaction as a preference check. A high willingness to buy again can reflect comfort, performance or enjoyment as well as reliability. Consider what owners liked, but do not substitute satisfaction for reported-problem evidence.
- Assess ownership exposure locally. Before buying, compare the vehicle’s age, mileage, service history, warranty coverage and local repair options. Reliability surveys describe groups of vehicles, not the condition of an individual used SUV.
