For road-going bikes, Honda lists the optional sports-kit RC213V-S at over 158 kW (over 215 PS), while its current Japan-market CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is rated at 160 kW (218 PS). Those figures describe different machines and configurations, so they do not produce a simple, definitive all-time ranking.
Why a definitive top ten is not supported
Honda’s available official specifications establish several powerful candidates, but they do not provide a consistent, comparable set of ten model-level ratings. Some figures are for race machines, others for road bikes; the RC213V-S figure changes with an optional sports kit, and published ratings can vary by market and model year. The evidence supports a sourced shortlist, not a trustworthy ranking of ten engines.
The figures below are manufacturer ratings, not independent dyno results. Do not compare a wheel-horsepower dyno reading with a manufacturer-rated engine output as though they use the same measurement basis.
Honda motorcycle engines with the strongest documented outputs
| Motorcycle and configuration | Use and specification context | Honda-published output | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| RC213V | 1,000cc MotoGP race machine; Honda specifications for 2017 and 2020 | Above 180 kW; Honda does not state an exact peak in these specifications | Honda 2017 specification; Honda 2020 specification |
| RC213V-S with optional sports kit | Road-based model in Honda’s European comparison; kit-equipped configuration | Over 158 kW (over 215 PS) at 13,000 rpm | Honda, 2015 |
| CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP | Road production model; current Japan-market specification as listed on Honda’s page accessed October 7, 2026 | 160 kW (218 PS) at 14,000 rpm; 113 Nm at 12,000 rpm | Honda Japan specifications |
| RC213V-S, standard road configuration | Road model in Honda’s European comparison, without the optional sports kit | 117 kW (159 PS) at 11,000 rpm | Honda, 2015 |
| CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, EWC race context | Honda Racing’s 2022 endurance-racing machine page; race context, not the road specification above | 160 kW at 14,500 rpm | Honda Racing, EWC machine page |
| CBR1000RR (SC77) | Separate generation from the RR-R; Honda Japan archived specification current as of March 2020 | 141 kW (192 PS) at 13,000 rpm | Honda Japan specifications |
| CBR1100XX Super Blackbird | 1996 European model, Honda factbook specification | 164 PS at 10,000 rpm (DIN); 124 Nm at 7,250 rpm | Honda Japan, 1996 factbook |
How to read the figures
Race engine versus road motorcycle
The RC213V’s above-180-kW rating belongs to a MotoGP race machine, not a production road bike. It is Honda’s highest published figure among the candidates listed, but “above 180 kW” is a threshold, not an exact output. The RC213V-S is a distinct road-going model derived from the RC213V; its optional-kit rating must not be presented as the standard road bike’s output.

Sports kit versus standard configuration
Honda’s 2015 European comparison gives the RC213V-S 117 kW (159 PS) at 11,000 rpm in road form and over 158 kW (over 215 PS) at 13,000 rpm with its optional sports kit. The kit figure is not the standard road specification, and the comparison is European-market information. Honda’s Japan-market road-version table gives a different output, so the European rating should not be generalized to every market.
Production Fireblade figures and racing context
Honda Japan currently lists the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP at 160 kW (218 PS) at 14,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 12,000 rpm. Honda Racing’s EWC page gives 160 kW at 14,500 rpm in a race context. Keep those specifications separate: they refer to different contexts and rpm figures, not one universal rating. Honda Racing describes the model as powered by “the most powerful inline four-cylinder that Honda has ever built,” a claim about Honda inline-fours rather than all Honda motorcycle engines.

Historical comparison
Honda’s 1996 factbook lists the European CBR1100XX Super Blackbird at 164 PS at 10,000 rpm (DIN). It is a useful period reference, but it is a dated, market-specific manufacturer rating; it should not be treated as a normalized comparison with later kW/PS specifications. The CBR1000RR (SC77), meanwhile, is a separate generation from the RR-R, with Honda Japan’s archived specification listing 141 kW (192 PS) at 13,000 rpm as of March 2020.

If “most powerful” includes Honda’s race machines, the RC213V leads this documented set at more than 180 kW. If the question is limited to road-going motorcycles, the answer depends on whether an optional sports kit counts: Honda lists the RC213V-S kit configuration above 158 kW, while the current Japan-market CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is rated at 160 kW (218 PS). The published figures do not establish a definitive all-time top ten across every Honda model, market, and configuration.
