It does not have a 6.75-litre V8—or any combustion engine—but its cabin sound is designed to echo the emotional character of that heritage. The Bentley Dynamic Symphony uses drums, viola and bass guitar, with software shaping the result around the driver’s inputs.
What is the most powerful Bentley ever made?
Bentley calls the Torcal its most powerful and fastest-accelerating production Bentley. That is the company’s production-car claim, not a claim that the Torcal has the largest engine or that every trim has identical output. Independent launch coverage reported 821 PS and 1,194 Nm for the regular Torcal, and 888 PS and 1,350 Nm for the Torcal S. Those are launch-reported figures; final specifications may vary by market.

TechRadar also reported a maximum range of 375 miles for the Torcal family, a 113 kWh battery and charging capability of up to 400 kW. The Torcal S was reported to reach 60 mph from rest in 2.8 seconds. These figures describe launch coverage, not a guarantee of range or charging performance in every market or driving condition.

Bentley’s team recorded and analysed the sound of its own V8 in a studio, then found that rhythm mattered more to the desired effect than simply copying a mechanical engine tone. The team compared a Bentley V8 played through parabolic speakers with a live drummer. That exploration led to the Bentley Dynamic Symphony, an original score performed with drums, viola and bass guitar.

The result is not a literal recording of a 6.75-litre engine, nor a synthetic attempt to pass for exhaust pulses. Bentley describes the soundtrack as an evocation of the V8’s character and presence, while giving the electric car a distinct sound of its own. In the company’s 16 July 2026 announcement, it said the score “echoes the character and presence of Bentley’s iconic V8” and responds to driver inputs.
Is Bentley faking engine noise in the Torcal?
Not in the literal sense. The Torcal does not reproduce a working V8’s cylinders or exhaust; its musical sound is created from instruments and control software. The distinction matters: this is an intentionally composed electric-car soundtrack, not evidence that the vehicle has a combustion engine.

The system also serves as driver feedback. T3 reports that its low-frequency sound is calibrated to torque demand and vehicle speed, grows louder in Sport mode and can be switched off. As acceleration changes, the sound gives the driver an audible progression, rather than simply playing a fixed engine-like loop.
What else gives the Torcal’s cabin sound a Bentley character?
The bespoke approach extends beyond the driving soundtrack. T3 reports that an indicator tone is derived from the sound of a hammer striking leather in Bentley’s upholstery workshops, while touchscreen and digital-assistant sounds are based on a crystal-glass recording. These are small details, but they apply the same idea: use recognisable physical textures and human-made sounds to connect an electric cabin with the marque’s craft traditions.

How does the Torcal compare with a real V8 Bentley?
The Bentayga Speed is a useful combustion counterpart. Bentley lists it with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 641 bhp (650 PS) and 850 Nm. Its sports exhaust is standard, and an optional titanium Akrapovič system is available. The sound comes from a real combustion engine and exhaust; the Torcal’s sound comes from instruments and software.

The comparison is about two different ways of delivering Bentley performance, not a like-for-like test. A real V8 produces exhaust sound as part of combustion; the Torcal’s soundtrack is a designed layer that can respond to driving and be disabled.

What the soundtrack means for the Torcal
Bentley is treating sound as part of the electric car’s identity and interface, not merely as a substitute exhaust note. The Torcal’s performance claim comes from its electric powertrain; the Dynamic Symphony adds a responsive, human-performed sound intended to connect that performance with the emotional rhythm of Bentley’s V8 history.
