Has Bugatti built the last Bolide?

Is the Bugatti Bolide road legal?
No. Bugatti describes the Bolide as a racing vehicle not intended for use on public roads. It should be understood as a track-only car, not as a road-going Bugatti or a typical new-car purchase option. What is special about the final Bugatti Bolide?
The last car was a bespoke commission for a longstanding collector, with a color scheme inspired by the collector’s Type 35. Bugatti says the collector chose the same colorway for a Veyron Grand Sport. The reported details include Black Blue and Special Blue Lyonnais exterior elements, Lake Blue Alcantara, a French flag on the side and Light Blue Sport stitching inside. The Type 35 connection gives the final Bolide a link to Bugatti’s racing past. The car is a modern, track-focused machine, while the specification’s inspiration came from a historic Bugatti associated with the marque’s competition heritage.

When did Bugatti develop and finish the Bolide?
Bugatti’s account traces the project from an experimental concept to the completed limited series:
- August 2021: The project began as an effort to bring the Bolide “What If” concept into production.
- 2022: Bugatti says the design was finalized.
- Early 2023: Engineering was completed, according to the company.
- Le Mans, 2023: Bugatti describes the event as a proving ground for the prototype. The company says official driver Andy Wallace reached 350 km/h on the straight; this is a manufacturer-reported figure, not an independently verified record.
- Summer 2023 to early 2024: Bugatti says track development continued.
- November 27, 2025: Bugatti announced that the final Bolide was complete and production had concluded.
How did Bugatti validate the Bolide before delivery?
In a March 18, 2025 account, Bugatti described a specialist inspection and shakedown process at Circuit de Mirecourt. The company said each session brought together eight specialists and could validate two cars in one day. Its account describes progressive braking checks, inspections of vehicle systems and more demanding performance validation.

Bugatti reported braking forces of up to -2.5G and brake temperatures peaking at 1,000°C during this process. Those figures describe the manufacturer’s stated shakedown procedure; they are not independently measured results. The account is useful context for how Bugatti says it checked the cars, but it should not be treated as third-party testing.

The Bolide’s production ending closes a limited, track-only project that Bugatti says began with a concept in 2021. Its final commission paired the car’s racing purpose with a personal reference to the owner’s Type 35, making the last example both the end of a 40-car series and a nod to Bugatti’s competition history.
