Eccentrica announced a 19-car plan and a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V12 rated at 550 hp and 600 Nm. The often-quoted price needs a currency and source attached: Issimi displayed a $1,350,000 starting price, while Top Gear described the car as £1.3 million in August 2024. Neither establishes Eccentrica’s current quote or what the price includes.
What is the Eccentrica V12?
Eccentrica is the maker of the Eccentrica V12, a restomod built around a first-generation Diablo donor car. The project updates the original car’s mechanical systems while retaining the Diablo as its foundation. It is therefore more accurate to call it a Diablo-based restomod than a returning Lamborghini model: the available company material presents it as Eccentrica’s bespoke project, not a new vehicle produced by Lamborghini. Eccentrica’s 2024 launch announcement describes the car and its planned limited run.
The name also needs a little care: Eccentrica has announced a separate Roadster, but the technical and price details discussed here concern the coupé unless otherwise specified. The company’s later Roadster announcement identifies that as another version of the project.
What changes from the donor Diablo?
V12 and transmission
Eccentrica’s launch announcement specifies a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V12 rated at 550 hp and 600 Nm. The company says the engine is paired with a custom six-speed transmission and a power-steering system, which it describes as absent from the first-series Diablo (1991–1994). Those are maker specifications and descriptions, not independently verified measurements or assessments.

- Brand new box. Real rubber tires. Officially licensed product. Made of diecast with some plastic parts. Has opening doors and engine compartment. Detailed interior, exterior, engine compartment. Dimensions approximately L-10.5, W-4.5, H-2.5 inches.
A later company description adds detail: the custom-built six-speed manual has shorter ratios and electric reverse. Eccentrica also lists composite chassis reinforcement, double-wishbone suspension, semi-active dampers, Brembo brakes and lightweight forged wheels. These changes make the car more than a cosmetic refresh, though the public material does not quantify every alteration against a particular donor car. Eccentrica’s Goodwood 2025 announcement describes the drivetrain and components.
Performance claims, with a qualification
Eccentrica’s 2024 technical comparison gives the first-edition Diablo a 325 kph top speed and 0–100 kph time of 4.1 seconds, against 335 kph and 3.8 seconds for the Eccentrica. It also lists a 34-meter braking distance from 100 to 0 kph for the Eccentrica, compared with 40 meters for the donor-car reference. The company’s technical sheet says the Eccentrica figures are subject to final homologation. They are published manufacturer specifications, not independent instrumented test results. Eccentrica’s technical specifications contain the comparison and qualification.

How much does the Diablo restomod cost?
The headline’s “$1.3 million” is a rounded description, not a confirmed current factory quote. Issimi’s listing displayed a $1,350,000 starting price and a six-month order timeline, alongside a September 4, 2025 delivery estimate. That delivery date has passed, so the listing is best treated as historical or indicative rather than current ordering guidance. Issimi’s Eccentrica listing does not establish whether the displayed amount includes a donor car, taxes, options or other costs.
Separately, Top Gear described the car as a £1.3 million restomod in its August 17, 2024 video description. That is a different currency and source, not a dollar conversion or evidence of today’s price. Neither figure should be presented as a current all-in price without a fresh quote from the maker. Top Gear’s video supplies the pound-denominated description.

How many will be made, and can buyers still order one?
Eccentrica announced a plan for 19 individually customizable coupés in August 2024. A later company production update identifies Rose Phoenix as the second customer car and the first in the official production run. That documents progress beyond the prototype, but it does not say how many cars remain available or whether new orders are currently open. The production update names the customer car and its place in the run.
Customization is part of the stated proposition, but the published sources cited here do not provide a complete options list or show how individual choices affect the price. Buyers should confirm the specification, order status, delivery timing and price inclusions directly with Eccentrica or an authorized seller rather than relying on an old listing.

What should a prospective buyer verify?
Because this is a donor-based, bespoke car, comparisons with an original Diablo or another restomod are most useful when they separate the things that can otherwise get blurred together:
- Donor and originality: which Diablo generation and specific donor car form the basis of the build, and which original components remain.
- Mechanical specification: what engine, gearbox, steering, suspension and braking hardware are included in the quoted build.
- Price and scope: currency, quote date, donor-car treatment, taxes, customization and any other inclusions.
- Production and timing: whether the stated 19-car plan has open slots and what delivery schedule applies now.
- Road legality: what homologation, registration and inspection requirements apply in the buyer’s jurisdiction.
The cited public material does not establish jurisdiction-specific registration approval. A buyer should obtain written confirmation for the intended country before treating published performance figures or a build specification as proof that a particular car can be registered for road use there.

Why “Lamborghini Diablo returns” needs a qualifier
The phrasing captures the appeal of seeing a Diablo-shaped V12 car revived, but it can imply a factory revival that the facts do not support. Eccentrica’s own homepage attributes “The Diablo was my dream car as a kid” to founder Emanuel Colombini. The project’s story is a founder-led tribute realized through a restomod, not evidence that Lamborghini has resumed Diablo production. Eccentrica’s homepage carries the quote.
