What makes the Seltos worth considering?
The 2026 Seltos has a broad trim and price range, with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive offered on several versions. The engine choice is tied to trim: LX, S, and EX use a 147-hp 2.0-liter engine, while the 190-hp 1.6-liter turbo is exclusive to the SX AWD. Equipment also changes by trim. Kia lists an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on LX; S, EX, and SX receive a 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system. Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance are listed from S upward. Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Highway Driving Assist are standard on SX. What the 2026 IIHS results say
The Seltos does not receive uniformly strong marks across the IIHS tests. The 2026 vehicle is rated Good in the small overlap front test, Acceptable in the updated moderate overlap front test, and Marginal in the updated side test. IIHS also rates standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention Poor and standard pedestrian front crash prevention Acceptable. IIHS additionally lists Marginal seat-belt reminders and Acceptable LATCH ease of use. Headlight ratings vary by trim or option, and the page identifies blind-spot detection and rear automatic braking as optional. Check the rating details and the equipment on the exact trim rather than assuming every Seltos has the same lights or driver aids.

How it compares with the Honda HR-V
A September 16, 2026 Associated Press article reporting an Edmunds comparison of the 2027 Kia Seltos and 2027 Honda HR-V describes the Seltos as having a lower starting price and more available equipment in that comparison. It also reports that Edmunds’ test found slower 0–60 mph acceleration for the Seltos. Those are conclusions from that comparison and its test context, not a universal ranking of the two SUVs. For your own shortlist, compare the exact vehicles on out-the-door price, engine and transmission, fuel economy, whether AWD is available, passenger and cargo room, standard versus optional driver aids, test-specific crash results, and warranty terms. A trim-level equipment list and a dealer quote are more useful than a nameplate-level comparison when features and prices differ.
